I can see a situation where Madrid fail to get rid this summer and maybe an 18 months deal can be put together in Jan.

If bale wasn’t motivated by money he would come back and make the move now

He isn’t bothered by game time at all, marca have planted the story to ramp up interest and offload him but he prefers to stay in Madrid pick up his wages and pay golf

Whether this actually happens or not we will still have a really good and exciting team next season.

But the thought of NDombele/Winks threading a pass through to Kane, who's just dropped off to receive the ball, before turning and seeing both Son and Bale bombing towards the opponents box, is Roy of the Rovers stuff for me.

Loads of practical reasons for not doing it, but purely for making a middle aged man grin, this would do it.

Waiting for this thread to slip down the forum list again.

We really do have bigger issues to address than faffing around with a vanity signing. I don’t believe we’re interested for one minute.

See, in theory I agree with this, but in reality look at the facts;

He has, at the absolute best, another two or three years at the top of his game. He's currently sitting on a contract - which RM offered him - where he earns an absolute fortune for X number of years. They knew full well what they were committing to but, as with most of the ultra-rich clubs atm, they figure that by the time they change their minds they will have the pull to shift them on in one form or another. RM have created this situation, all Bale is doing is holding them to that offer.

Once you find that you can provide for you family for the rest of their lives, why would you risk that by walking away on that contract? I think it's less about football and more about holding someone to account for their offer.

He was contracted to be at RM for X number of years and earn X amount. If they want to pay the difference - even a fraction of the difference - and move him on, that works, I don't doubt that he would accept that offer, but they are trying to ship him out and get out of the agreement they put in place.

They should be held fully accountable and even if Bale does move on, I'd still have them investigated for offering contracts they simply have no intention of honouring.

Wasn't it RM who managed to sell a patch of land about three feet square for half a billion to the state or a bank when they were a bit skint? They are a scam on wheels, personally I think it's kinda cool that Gareth is taking them for every penny - fuck Real Madrid, they are one of the spanners in the works of football right now.

Hey! Go work for your old company at what they are willing to pay you. This will be about 1/4 or 1/3 of your current wages.

What?! You haven’t gone yet???!!!

The question has always been how badly to Madrid want him out, maybe these noises coming out of Madrid are suggesting RM are loosening their stance? I'm sure there is still a long way to go for it to be viable however...
Well the questions Madrid are asking is how much does bale want to play football, and how much will teams pay to get him. Very little movement on all sides as of 2 days ago.

I really feel like RM have the weakest hand here personally, but fair play for them standing strong. I suspect they are keeping the hard stance in the hope they can use him as part-ex for Neymar, Pogba or Eriksen.

Not sure paying £600k a week to a player the manager doesn't want is a smart move but fair play to them!

People keep going on as if it's set in stone that there won't be a softening of position from other Madrid, Bale or a compromise from both. Who can or can't afford him right now has been done to death.

But when he leaves it's very likely to be because there's been an acceptance from all parties that the money isn't going to be what they want, its at that point we'll know just how viable any deal actually might be. What goes now might not necessarily be the case in two or three weeks time.

I'll admit, every time this idea got floated, I just laughed it off as some untenable pipe dream that was never really more than wishful thinking and had zero foundation in reality.

But seeing trusted ITK talk about it, I gotta admit, I'm taken aback. I never thought a day would come where, even if it doesn't come off, that Bale would consider a move back to us.

Show's how far we've come as a club and how badly its gone south for him at Madrid.

Just bizarre.
