Well yes, it is the Bale transfer thread, if you don't like people discussing the possible transfer of Bale to Tottenham Hotspur, I suggest you ignore the thread. Martial for £50m or Bale for £70m there is in my and many other Tottenham fans eyes, no contest

One thing we know very well about Levy is that he plans for the future well in advance. The very fact that he had the idea and foresight to negotiate a buy back clause in Bale's sale to RM means that the possibility of signing him back was very much in his mind. And not just a possibility, but a very real scenario he had envisaged. If the opportunity does present itself to him I'm very sure he would make it happen and make it work financially. He would have planned for this very scenario. The only 2 questions really would be, a. Does bale want to come? We know he probably does, and b. Does Poch want him? That we don't know.

What on tele tonight??
True - I've not seen him score an overhead goal before, but those unpredictable 'knuckle ball' shots were a regular feature of his game at spurs. A decent keeper would have saved both though, in my opinion.

What surprised me was he was easily caught when through on goal. When he played for us, he'd do that trick where everyone else looked like they were in slow motion.
If he has lost that acceleration, then you can see why Madrid were looking to sell, as that was his number 1 asset.

Jesus mate, take a joke.

I've no problem with discussing the idea of Bale coming home, but many here - yourself included - seem to take it as a personal affront when someone points out that the numbers simply don't add up and a transfer of this ilk has never happened before.

When you enter the thread & tell people they're talking nonsense, partaking in a wankfest & it's your mission to bring an end to it, enlighten me as to how they're not supposed to take your comments as a personal affront?

Take a joke? Try making one first.

This is the problem now. This is being built up in to such a big thing that if we don't sign Bale this summer, if we sign any attacking mid apart from Bale you and others are going to lose their shit.

Depends what occurs. If Utd bid every Spurs fan knows that we can't beat them in terms of what they can offer. If they don't bid and I dunno, Chelsea buy him for £70m and we chose not to match bid I'd say "losing their shit" may be justifiable.

Unless you're a businessman every Spurs fan wants us to win the league, Bale would give us a better chance than anything else we will do this summer so it's nice to dream. It'll be interesting what occurs as buying youth prospects doesn't win titles it creates a nice sustainable model of top 4 where Poch has taken us as far as he can. He and we deserve more, it won't be Bale but it needs to be something if we want a title.

And if he breaks his leg in preseason training it's a total waste and still have to pay him £600k a week.

Rationalise it all you want but for every reason for there is also a reason against.

Bale is one of those interesting players because he would be good for the fans, for the club and business. He is a top 5 player in the world.

Getting Bale would be a massive signing for the club that would be exceptionally well received by the supporters and would send a very loud signal to our players. For the past few decades Spurs were the club that would be expected to sell a player who was top 5 in the world. For us to turn around and buy a top 5 player?....the message would be pretty damn deafening .

But signing Bale would certainly be good for business as well. Think of all the Addidas branded "He's coming home" (or whatever nonsense hashtag they brand) ads plastered around London, billboard in Times Square, videos on Twitter, commercials on TV, shirts and whatnot hocked all across Asia. Levy & Co. would milk his image for everything they could.

I am fully convinced we will not get him, i am not sure we will even try. But if we were to have a realistic opportunity it would be stupid to not try; there are just too many positives for the club to not take the risk.

I don't think a return is unrealistic.

I think the ball in our court with this one, and it just depends what stance the club decide to take.

I'd love him back. I really would. To hear his name ringing around NWHL would be truly special.

But what is it they say?
"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results"?

Not sure our modus operandi would be completely overhauled to make this happen.

I'm sure we're being kept abreast of the situation, though.

I believe signing him would increase the noise, also a player to get peoples backsides off seats (doubtful but might even get a tune out of the West Stand).

I really hope we make the effort to get something done, but if the hurdle of his wages (providing it is a prob, he won't even talk if not interested as he knows we don't pay big), then it will be just like any other window, hopes built up with the possibility of player X, player X signs for someone else, back to hoping player Z does well.

if he doesn't sign I will still be supporting Spurs till I die, and all the players that put the shirt on, even Sissoko:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

If you want hard and fast evidence, on ANY transfer, what on earth are you doing here? Apart from trolling the place with wankfest this, psychiatrist that and generally pissing people off by being a bit of a knob.

And that's my job.

I think i want to surrender myself to your dungeon now.

I'd rather just buy Bale and promote youth players to fill gaps in squad than buy youth prospects who by the time they progress and improve, half the current team have retired or been sold.

It's whether you want something that's good for business or good for the fans, because Bale would give us an almighty chance of winning the league.

Not on his own I don’t think. Still believe De Ligt should be the priority signing build from the back again. I don’t trust Dier at CB if he had to play there for a run of games or we switch to a three. I think he’s too flat footed and slow on the turn. De Ligt will be one of, if not the best centre half in Europe soon. Would make a massive difference to us already and in the future. Then Central midfield is an area we should be looking at especially if Dembele goes and Wanyama either goes or doesn’t get back to his previous level. I don’t think throwing The youngsters in there is going to get us challenging, FB/WB is another area we could improve as well.

Don’t get me wrong I would love Bale to come back but I think we should take the emotion out of it and look at were we are weakest and improve the whole dynamic of the team if we can get him after that then fantastic.

Can we have a crowd fund to get him home. Either that, or Levy and Lewis could a bit of their own money in for a change??

The issue with de Ligt is that the cost may far outweigh what he is worth if reports are to be believed. We've even seen as much up to £70m! £70m! For an unproven CB with potential. That is way too much.

We need a quality CB, CM and WF/AM. If the finances for Bale jeopardise the quality of CB/CM incomings, then it probably isn’t worth it
