Yes. But if we met that fee it cannot be increased hence no bidding war.

I'm in agreement with you that i doubt we'd get him. The financials would be too much. Just trying to look at both sides.

Why can't it be increased, and what's to stop another team bidding more?

Basically if they receive a bid they have to inform us. We match it and our bid tops there's, why would it stop another team from bidding more?

As good as Levy is at negotiating, we are talking about a player that would probably start an auction. If another club just offers £10mil more all the clever negotiating in the world just isn't going to help.
Is that true, though? Bale doesn't get the transfer fee. If he wants to come to Spurs, then either Real accept what we offer, or they hope he'll go somewhere else, or they keep a disaffected player. Levy's negotiating skills could still play a part. It's basically down to how much (or even whether) Bale wants to play for us again.

A special player requires creativity in the purchase. I don’t think it would just come out of the overall kitty. Let DL sort it out with a major financing package. Give Bale his own sponsor?

As something related but not directly relevant - did I not read that players wages were financed in a different way in Spain compared to the UK in relation to image rights for example?

We don't know for sure, but it seems that we can match an accepted bid, and then RM have to accept ours. Once they've done that, we have exclusivity in developing the final deal.

@coopsieyid posted what looked to be the first refusal part of the contract. If a bid is accepted we can match it, no other bids can then be accepted even if more.

Joe Lewis can write him into his will.

If we put him in our current team we have the second best team. Add a decent CM and a CB and we have a chance of beating man city.

Bale, alli and son behind kane, with dier and eriksen in the middle

He is a worldy. He scores, creates and would bring in revenue. It's a no brainer when it comes to having a marque signing. It is down to the player if he wants to come. Sadly that is why will not happen.

,
That’s the biggest issue for me Trix. We do have other areas of priority and as good as Bale is we have a limited amount of money to plug those gaps.

It’s gotta be a very tough decision for the hierarchy. I honestly don’t see how we can make this work

I think two of our is single, biggest priorities are sign ing a "difference maker" and a man with the experience of winning big prizes. Bale makes the difference and has won the Champions League four out of the last five years; already e would be getting two big players in one! He would represent value! oh, add to that the effect he would have on Kane, Alli, Eriksen...it starts to look awfully much like a deal that if we have a sniff we NEED to get done.

And if he breaks his leg in preseason training it's a total waste and still have to pay him £600k a week.

Rationalise it all you want but for every reason for there is also a reason against.

I believe insurance would take care of such a thing...

More to it than matching a bid. As I said, as we are being led to believe. Love it to happen. But nigh on impossibility-Opinion

Think most of our fans are just getting carried away by the dream. Deep down i think we all know it is highly unlikely.

I don't think anyone wouldn't want Bale in our squad if given the chance.... But the chances of Bale coming here are slim with his wages and our structure. Would take some serious changes to even have a chance.

As much as anything else buying Bale is a sign to the world and the rest of the team . He is in the top four bracket of world stars. Why would Kane and Dele and Eriksen want to leave ( as long as we pay their worth)
Where else will they have a chance of playing with such a superstar. An Ageing Ronaldo or Messi or a money grabbing cry baby Neymar,I dont think so.
Bringing Bale back could be the start of a another golden era for Spurs and they would surely want to be part of it.

The wages is the biggest problem. Not sure how our other players would feel with them seeing Bale on such a high salary aswell. Need to think of them also.
