If Gareth is sold, I hope Levys statement doesn't include that there was any ill will between him and the club. Even though he will be a massive lose to our great club i look forward to watching him play for Madrid on a weekly basis (SkyS) and hope he does well. The team/squad have been strenghened massively on the back of Gareths proposed sale.

If GB stays, he may and may not be able to reproduce his performance last year. But we're going from having most of our eggs in one basket to a world class 'team', with both strength and depth.

Bye bye Gareth, thanks for last season but the future is looking very Lilly white. Shame you are viewing RM so romantically. I can understand it to a point, but you could be so much more with us. I'd personally rather be a legend than a squad member, but your choice.

Long time lurker, first post.

Just checked odds checker and BetVictor have started a market on Bale's goals for Madrid and Bale vs Ronaldo goal tallies.

I don't know too much about bookies but I wouldn't have thought they would start the market if they hadn't been told Bale is a Madrid player.

They're just speculating, trying to cash in on the hype in order to get some early money out of it.

It looks like we are selling him. That's stupid. Why sell your best player with three years of contract left!? So what if he wants to leave. Just say NO.

Ben Smith at BBC is reporting Baldini's trip to Madrid had nothing to do with Bale and there's no deal yet. This is becoming the greatest transfer saga of all time.

First time poster too! I wouldn't read too much into the bookies - they're looking for the marketing. Paddy Power built their brand on PR from weird bets (like no. of times Gordon Brown took a sip of water during a budget speech) or early payouts of bets (some of which actually went on to lose!). They can also void bets easily (e.g. if Bale doesn't go to RM) - so no skin off their nose but the potential for money in the bank for a bit and some PR.

Goodbye my lover
Goodbye my friend
You have been the one
You have been the one for me

Just thought I'd be blunt about it

Call me what you like but I reckon if Arsenal got those two and Real used the money to buy Bale and we sorted out Lamela as well as Willian we'd be fucking MILES better than Arsenal still.

So what if they get Benzema, we've got Soldado.
Di Maria? LAMELA

chill out yids.
This window has been the stuff dreams are made of.

Am sure "¡Lamela!" means

"Lick it!"

Levy is going to explain why he has told bale to stay silent, why he hasn't signed a new contract and that Madrid offered 85m but we didn't think that was enough. Just as easily could be that?

It makes sense to sell him for this kind of money when you look at the players we're investing in.

It'll still hurt a bit though, we haven't had a great Welsh player here for a few years and I was definitely enjoying it.

I have to say, if Levy says that Bale was awkward and forced a move I'll lose a lot of respect for him.
If he says that he asked to leave and put a case forward and cooperated I will be happy to see him leave.

I think, if he does move, he's done well by Spurs by keeping schtum all summer and not mouthing off, as urged by the ever classy Perez et al.

He'll get my blessing, not that that is worth much to him!
