Would make sense though, Ronaldo is very egotistical and he doesn't want to lose the title as most expensive player in the world.

Also he is the main man there, he doesn't want the spot light off him.

Looks like the transfer is getting less and less of a foregone conclusion

Perez is the only one who wants Bale at RM. CR7 kicking up an absolute shit storm. We won't take less than 100m. #gareththepawn

not sure if this should be in the itk thread

I think this is really lazy 'ITK' just based on Ronaldo's comments the other day.

IMO Ronaldo was simply saying he doesn't want to talk about any player who doesn't already belong to the club. The media just put spin on these comments to fit their own agenda.

I think this is the first team since that fucking article in Marca that the press are accepting he might not actually go to Madrid... What a shower of shits the football media really are.

Assuming Bale stays, the only automatic additions to the first team will presumably be Paulinho and Soldado. I don't think Chadli or Capoue will go straight into the first team by any means. In fact I don't know that Paulinho will immediately either, he could be blooded slowly like Sandro was. I suppose on the other hand you do have to take into account that in terms of bedding in from last season, Rose will essentially be a new player as well though.

In a way it could be another transition season, but i'm just praying we can scrape 4th this time so we don't lose any more of our key players. There's going to be a lot of adaptation again this season, from all this:

General transition to the 4-3-3 and the changing of player roles as a result
Danny Rose and a new left back adapting to AVB's tactics
Caulker replacement
Kaboul hasn't played with Vertonghen or the new CB before
Capoue
Paulinho
Townsend (didn't really feature last season and was loaned out)
Chadli
Soldado and the potential for a overhaul of our strikers
There is a possbility that Bale will go and if he does that's going to make things much worse with the need for 2 more key attacking players

That's why I think it's going to take us at least a year before we see us at our best.

The price is to high, so you can't afford him?

Oh well fuck off then and when we're ready to sell we'll contact clubs like PSG & City who can!

Great news, and it does look like RM back tracking now.

I'd guess they've privately asked Bale to hand in a transfer request and he hasn't wanted to do this, hence the back tracking now - obviously coupled by Levy's resolute position.

Would just be amazing if we got to keep Bale this season.

Still more twists and turns to come knowing our luck, but lets hope this is the beginning of the end of their pursuit for Bale - this summer anyway.

Now I completely accept that saying "when he said I was only going to be paid 55k a week I almost veered off the road" isn't going to endear you to the £25k-a-year public, I think it's absolutely reasonable to be upset if your employer verbally agrees to one rate of pay, and then shorts you on it when it comes to the official contract. The amount of money isn't relevant.
Yeah but he didnt say just say it though did he? He put it in his autobiography ffs.
Hes a shit in my eyes, always has been, the epitome of what is wrong with modern day footballers. But as you say ,this ain't the place for it.

I think if we tie him up on a new contract it will end all speculation this window a la Benteke.

Just put him on a ridiculous wage, get it signed and then our plans can go undisrupted.

You can bet if the Madrid shit did stop, unlikely anyway, the media would be straight in with United links...but lets be honest, if we are asking for a 100 million from Madrid - we'd be looking for even more from a domestic rival.

Does anybody think though, one of the reasons why we formed a partnership with Madrid, was we were going to offer them our big players when the time came to sell them as opposed to the likes of United?

I think that's why an awful lot of people thought this was a transfer in the making for next year when Ronaldo would move on and Bale brought in to take on the mantle.

I just cannot see how you shoe horn Bale into the Madrid side currently without causing a shot storm of clashing ego's and once that happens, you ain't winning shit!

Which could backfire somewhat, because if they move for Suarez, affordability can never be an issue as they were offering 85m for Bale.
;)

Says who, though? Only SSN 'sources' and Marca? Go back just a few pages and you'll see that the serial prick called Perez told the world that Real Madrid couldn't afford Neymar, and since saying that, he's spent over €60m. To be fair, there has been LOTS of info from various different sources that state RM truly aren't that well off.

EDIT: Just read that back and it reads like I'm defending Perez/RM. I'M NOT!! I was basically saying that it was ONLY Marca & shitty 'sources' for SSN who claimed this world record £85m bid was on the table.

This is the thing where I think there still is a special relationship with Madrid. Levy/Lewis really don't like Manu and perhaps DL can get credit for keeping Bale whilst next year Perez gets credit for getting Bale for under 100millon.

Nope. Ronaldo specifically referred to the amount of money Real were rumoured to have bid and said :

'In terms of the transfer fee, you should speak to the coach [Carlo Ancelotti] and president [Florentino Pérez] about that. I have my opinion, but I’m not going to reveal it in front of the cameras'
