As others have said fuck that, relegation/promotion are vital to maintaining the competitiveness of the PL.

Although if they were going to do this, I would like to see them do it right now so West Ham permanently become a championship side

Would make the vast majority of PL games meaningless with the Top 3 fighting out for the league (though before long City will be walking it every year anyway) and then a battle for 4th place amongst the 'second tier teams'

Why not just have a SuperPremier League of Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea (sorry Liverpool and Arsenal but you just don't cut it anymore). They can play each other say 8 times a season - they wouldn't have to play before CL weeks to keep the players fresh. Then you could have the other PL teams playing for the final CL place - but obviously not promotion to the SuperPL!.

So glad this idea won't go ahead as it would destroy English football. What would be the point of the Championship, League One, etc., if entry to the Premier League was prevented? Also, I hate the idea of permanently keeping the likes of Wigan & Bolton in the league while barring clubs like Nott'm Forest, Leeds & Sheff Wed from the top flight.

It's only due to relegation and promotion and integration within the F.A.'s league division structure that the P.L. is at the top of the heap .

If the P.L. broke away and ended promotion and relegation, it becomes a totally arbitrary decision as to which league is the top one ; the P.L. or the F.A. Championship .

It could end up like boxing ; why stop at two competing series ?

If the P.L. break away and end promotion and relegation it and the teams in it will cease to exist for me .

A better idea is to relegate all the clubs whose chairman are asking for an end to relegation.

I think a better idea would be to relegate any club that hasn't won promotion via footballing merit! Thats the Woolwich gone for starters, and while were at it strip them of any titles they have won due to the corrupt method they used to gain entry to the top flight.

And lets have Gillespie road station reinstated.

I read this elsewhere, and have to say Im embarrassed to be an American. You'd have to be a corrupt f*cker to change the sport to safeguard your investment.

It would kill the sport.

Think of the last ditch spending that would happen to avoid relegation or gain promotion in that final season and the ensuing amount of clubs going bust as a result.

That or it will be done based upon Stadium size, profitability, income stream etc...

If they want to use any of the stupid American franchise rules, then they should reverse prize money so that relegated teams don't suffer too much from the relegation (and do away with parachute funding) and those teams that win the Prem would not have as much money other than through their already massive CL gains and franchises, but it would allow some of the lesser teams to compete in the signing of players market.

But seriously no, if this happens I would avoid the Premier League and go back to Supporting Oxford UTD on a permanant basis!

It will never happen, if it did there would be an uproar from all the lower leagues....would also make the league very boring for mid to lower teams, nothing to play for all the time, would kill the league
