I can imagine it now - England vs. Uzbekistan in the WC final, 50 goal-a-season Spurs striker Harry Kane's just about to take a 90'th minute penalty to win England the world Cup, and the fucking thing falls from the sky.

I can more picture a scene where 60 minutes into a match at the World Cup, suddenly a lone figure appears atop the stadia wearing a large cloak and slams his sceptre into the roof of the stand. You squint and realise it's Sepp Blatter, now in his 39th year as FIFA Supremo having killed Bin Hammam and eaten Michel Platini, and he's screaming "HEAR MY COMMAND... LET IT RAIN!" before a deluge comes and all the players slip on their arses and the game becomes a farce.

It might sound ludicrous but if that were a genuine possibility at matches I'd even start watching England again.

Ugh, I'm already sick of the 2022 world cup. Just another example of football becoming nothing more than a commodity for people who don't give a flying fuck about it. Hopefully after a month of barely attended stadia and players passing out from the heat, FIFA abandon this stupid legacy bullshit and start awarding tournaments to nations who have actually deserve it. Since France 98 there's only been one worthwhile World Cup host where people actually value football, and that's Germany. There'll be one more next time in Brazil granted, but that doesn't make up for USA, Korea, South Africa, Russia and Qatar making up 5 out of 8 World Cups.

Some sort of expert on Talksport less than convinced. He reckons that it might make a bit of shade but wont stop the ratther high temperatures.

My vote for the next idea will be underground stadiums like that place where they mine opals in Australia(which name escapes me for the moment).

I have no idea how this works....I have been to the UAE a few times with work and a times its been 50c outside and about 45c in the shade.

So im not sure how this is going to drop the temperature enough to make a significant change.

If someone fired a rocket into a helium balloon, what would happen?

Would it explode?

Would everyone have squeaky voices?

This is beyond crazy. What will they think of next, a device to make it snow in temperatures in excess of 40C.

I can imagine it now - England vs. Uzbekistan in the WC final, 50 goal-a-season Spurs striker Harry Kane's just about to take a 90'th minute penalty to win England the world Cup, and the fucking thing falls from the sky.

Since the beginning of time, man has yearned to destroy the sun. I shall do the next best thing: block it out.
