Right call I think. He is going for and gets the ball. His studs aren't up, it isn't that high, and doesn't cause particular danger. It's dodgy but not a professional foul, nor particularly dangerous, nor lacking any intent to play the ball. Not enough for a red in my opinion - I'd certainly be annoyed for it to be given against us.

That's what I thought too. But on the replay he really did cannon into the Wolves player's standing leg with great force and nowhere near the ball.

That's what surprised me about the VAR decision. I thought it was more red on replay than live (my initial reaction was that it was a very harsh red)

Ole's face. Who's smirking now you, eh, you 'orrid little turd?

Excuse me.
Honeymoon period well and truely over. They were so lucky against us at Wembley. Media keeping talking about the PSG game. They should have been buired at halftime not to mention the penalty they got. Let's hope they stutter now.

Let’s hope he’s signed that contract first!

Agree. Didn’t watch the game, but just saw the highlights online. Not a good tackle, but no way a straight red imo.

However, note the top reply saying Middlesbrough and Burton used VAR in the EFL Cup.

A true VARce.

And if the officials had done their job we'd be looking at a semi final quartet of Watford, Swansea, Wolves and Milwall or Brighton. That would've been fun.

Wolves will make it difficult for them if they have to play them. I like Wolves chances.
Yeah Wolves held City at home early in the season and lost 3-0 away but that was after a 19th minute red card. They definitely have a good chance.
