If your going to write this sort of stuff at least think about it or know about it.

Keita didn't even sign for sevilla until last summer and hardly played at all under ramos as he was injured and Capel is only just starting out.

You make it sound like ramos built his team around these quality players and it just isn't true.
Fair point mate, Didn't know Kieta had only just signed to be fair i'll admit that one, I know on the other Hand Capel has only just started out buy if you're going to be picky replace his name with the name of Jesus Navas then. As for Kieta I don't know their CM before him but surely you get my point that he had/brought in players of that quality and that is what we need not the underpeforming inconsistent Zokora,Jenas,Robbo etc etc.

Lets be honest half the players that are here are not of ramos choosing and we will see that in the summer, defence is sorted new keeper coming in, midfield will see huge changes as well as the strikers

Funny how start of season defence was the worst part, now i'd agruably say it's the best and that recently we've defended very well and with Woodgate and Hutton, if we can get a decent GK and either King or another CB if he isn't fit, we'll concede few goals. Strikers are great but midield is still poor, for all the goals we score the strikers still don't get the right service and the defence doesn't get enough protection.

Robbo- A great shot stopper with a great kick. But lets face it not top 4, he is just to much a confidence player hes just far too "weak" for us to take us to the next level

JJ- he used to be a hot cold player and lacked consistency. He has gone up a entire new level and seems to be in the future england plans. Not quite there yet but will be in a year or so, still needs to be more decisive to be top quality

Zokora- sometimes hes good, but hes not brilliant a top DM is my prioraty come Summer

Steed- I think hes been consistently good this season, constantly running, tracking back then storming forward, now we dont talk about the LW issue so much. Full credit to him proved most doughters wrong.

Lennon- Lennon althogh isnt a great crosser he stillhas a better cross ratio then wright-philips and shooting ratio (supprise supprise). Lennon is still incredibly young (20). He hasnt just got pace hes got real skill, he is brilliant on the turn, and when he runs the ball is glued to his feet (dont belive me watch him). his only problem is his crossing ability and making that final pass. But with time and effort he can improve these things. He also needs to get him more involved he seems very quite in games more ofen then he used too. And also always passes instead of running with the ball. Still I think if we were to sell him one of the top 4 would buy him. He is a great talent but by no means the finished artical

Hows that

Why the strickes we have the best pair of strickers in the prem. Keane and Berba have scored 41 goals between them. And we have bent witch Liverpool wanted last year (but they didnt wanna spend 17million)

The key thing is our mindset which has always been our problem. I think that had we not scored early against west ham we'd have lost that game as they looked far more dangerous at the start. The comparisson with everton is valid - we rarely play as a team.

One thing I can't stand are pics of 'the lads' going out to china whites etc. We need to cut all that rubbish out of the team.

There needs to be a lot of changes in personel and I reckon Ramos is not afraid to do so. A lot of talk of how we have a fantastic strike force. Berba leaves in the summer, then we just have Keano. I have not been impressed by a single kick from Bent. The only real progress we have made this season is by not being overawed by the big teams, but have failed by taking smaller teams for granted.

First off good thread.

For the money we've invested i believe our expectations should be high i.e. challenging for champions league. However, money does not always result in nessacary wins. We've got a young squad so hopefully they can develop together quickly, but i still don't think its a squad that will win get us top 5 consistantly yet.

People say money can't buy mentality, but levy obviously offered Ramos a fair bit to get his.

Hopefully it will rub off on the squad soon!

I'm with those that say that the league season has been a disappointment this year, but Ramos has at least got us out of the immediate relegation battle.
However, the next three games, all at home, v Chelski, Pompey and Newcastle are crucial and we need at least six points from that to be almost 100 percent certain to stay away from the battle at the bottom.
Still, 11th is not good enough considering the talent we have and the money we've spent.

But we can end this season saying we

1. Won the League Cup
2. Battled very bravely against both ManUre and PSV, two class sides, in the other two competitions

and

3. Are not Newcastle.

which does brighten things up a wee bit.

I agree. Our players should behave like United's at those Rio-organised beanos.

Other than the 0-5 against Manchester United , I don't think we were overawed last season against the big boys . Not getting it up for the smaller teams goes back to your first comment about mindset which I agree is at the root of our problems .

Spurs are a playboy club whereas Arsenal are businesslike . It's been that way for 20 years and I suspect will take almost a complete change of personnel to loose it .

its not just THFC supporters who expected more out of this team. A lot of money was spent in the summer and a lot of press talking about it. Looking back, who made a splash? Not one. Bale was off to a good start, but hasnt played since October. Nobody else has even raised an eyebrow.

BTW, Murinho figured we'd challenge the top 4 this year. So like I said, those expectations werent limited to club supporters.

Yes. And as Lawro, with one of his occasional flashes of common sense, commented, all £40m guarantees you is a bigger wage bill.

I wouldn't like to comment as to who is to blame.

it wasn't about expectations at all, finishing in top 10 isn't easy due to pur poor start but it wasn't too hard because it was just just 5 points before this weekend.

anyway, even if we lost and not finish in top 10, i would accept it if we played better against a team missed 3 of their Key players.

we played very poor today thanks to Zokora, Jenas partnership and our touch tackler winger Malbranque. Hope Ramos will use him as LB or CB or DM next time. At least, using natural winger likes Lennon or Taraabt would be good for our football.

Apparently Ramos disagrees. But what does he know, eh?

As BOF said the other day, it seems the less people have actually seen of Taarabt, the greater their enthusiasm for him.

go ahead, Id be interested to hear. I know what Jol thinks. its important because that was a 40 million pound whiff, except for Bale. contrast that to the winter window, where at least 2 look to be very good acquisitions and the other 2 haven't had a look. so the only thing I know for sure thats changed since last summer is the manager.

Not sure we should be lowering our expectations, pretty sure the team should be raising their levels of consitency though.
