As much as I don't wan't to see either Berbatov or Keane leave IF they were to leave it brings about massive potentiol for a 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1 with Bent up front on his own.

The thought of Benty using his guile and pace and accurate finishing with the service of a midfield possibly containing Modric,Dos Santos,Bentley,Capel,Jenas etc etc who can also all chip in with a fair few goals is very exciting indeed.

We would play in quite a different style, mabye fairly counter-attacking but with the full-backs and midfielders using the mass amounts of creativity and pace there is much potentiol.

Also Bent is a fantastic striker and thats why we paid so much money for him. Play him for a whole season with a decent midfield behind him and he will score plenty of goals, guarenteed!

He has scored 8 goals in 36 apperances which is one every 4.5 times he plays, sounds fairly poor but considering only about 5 or 6 of those have actually been starts and the rest he's only been on the pitch for about 20minutes at most it's fairly impressive. He also scored the most goals over 3 seasons in the premiership except for Henry when he was at Charlton.

He is a proven goalscorer and ok if we sold Keaneo and Berby yes we'd still need at least 1 if not 2 more strikers added to the squad anyway, but if we went into the season with say Bent,2 squad standard strikers and Pekhart, looking to play 1 up front, Bent could really shown just why he was transfered for the same amount as Henry was to Barcelona.

Also he is still quite young.
Just got a feeling he may well be a suprise star next season and that he was cleverly bought for exactly this situation especially knowning Berby is likely to leave then Bent can hopefully fill his boots and mabye more!!!

having spent 16m on him and having seen that he can score in previous seasons, we ought to give him a try.

whether he cuts the mustard for us and at what stage we say 'you've had your chance, sorry' if he doesn't is a tough one. we really need to make a good start this season.

Yea the pressure unfortunately really would be on him to deliver pretty much straight away as we'd be in a position to bring someone class in january if Bent wasn't delivering, but if he stays fit I see no reason why as a lone striker or with keane or another striker why he couldn't show the same form as he did with Charlton and far more and then we'd have a 20goal a season striker similar in style to Eto'o, using his blistering pace and accurate finishing to provide many many goals :)

Yeah i really think he can have a great season if given the chance. Just think if we could get in Arshavin too we would have some amazing passers behind him..

Its good that we're all trying to rally round Bent now. Desperate times desperate measures and all that! Always been a fan to be honest rated him over Keane potentially since he joined. It will be good to see him first choice.

then he'll leave because someone will over 30m and as it's a 'profit' and we have to 'take into considerations that thfc is on the stockmarket' we'll sell him and submit another dossier.

no but seriously he has massive potentiol if played for the majority of a season with a world class midfield which we will have if we sell Berby and or Keaneo. He is worth the 16mil IMO I feel it will turn out to be a great signing just requires patience which he seems to have had and who knows he could be leading our line in the Champions league next season who would have thought...mabye he did :)

Bent will have an excellent season if he gets to start regularly and he gets decent service (which he will from Modric and a more mature and fit Huddlestone, as well as better flank service from Bale/Hutton/GDS/potentially Bentley).

Don't know if I'd be bothered whether he played up front on his own or with another striker, the guy will get 15-20 league goals a season if he is allowed to start around 65-75% of games.

Bent, being a Spurs striker will always have my support....however I do not see him as being anything more than a good mid table Charltonesque player. He is a typical average English striker. Fast but not as skillful as an average, cheaper, European attacker. I HOPE that I am talking through my A-Hole.....and that Bent will turn out to be more than what we need....but I doubt it.
A Berby-Keane attack was/is vastly more dangerous than a Bent-Bent-Bent combination....but we shall shown up....good or bad....Silly or Sad! What matters is the Club and the Fans.....COYS!

An average cheaper European attacker like Kuyt, perhaps?

What a shame he didn't score his goals in Spain or Germany or Holland. There would be mass synchronised jean-creaming if he had.

Bents my hero now, i really can't tell you how badly i want him to explode with 20+ goals this year and prove everyone wrong.

the only way a 4-5-1 will work with him is if we play on the counter and defend deep because i really don't trust bent with the ball at his feet outside the box, hes not terrible but its not one of his strengths, hes great in the air and running on to things.

Hopefully he'll do a Clive Allen & score 49 in one season...

Well he's better player than Allen was, so wouldn't be surprised if he would score 50... except we don't have Hoddle, Waddle, Ardiles etc. behind him

Bent needs confidence, Fans gotta give him that, got to support him.

I truly believe that Bent fits this team better than either Berbatov or Robbie Keane.
That's all that matters.

he should get a go, but i still feel we need to get in a striker in the berbatov mould also, ie one who can lead the line, hold the ball up skillfully etc. Then we will have the option of playing that way if need be.

the replacement doesnt necessarily need to be expensive, just a good technical player

Players of the stature of Berbatov don't appear very often.....ask Manure......they are still waiting (lol). Long may that continue lol.
Regarding Bent....I WANT hime to get 50+ but I can't get away from him being a certain type of English player....Good in some situations but not in many others. Again, I hope to be proved totally wrong.
Let's look at the bright side....We have a pretty good attack from midfield and a Bent-like speedster might work out well.....but the jury is out just yet! It all depends on whether we manage to get Bentley and 1 or 2 other players to supplement Bent and Co (Co must be some player because he is always being mentioned! lol) COYS!

True...we'll have to make do with Modric, GDS, Hudd, Lennon, Hutton, Bale & anyone else that arrives.

Bent & GDS - unlikely but potential partnership in the making? Any chance?

I wish we could sign a time machine in order to go back & cherry pick our past players.

Well I would definitely buy Arshavin and Exchange Berba to Pato or Bojan, but would those never happen... no, so just hope that we can even get injury prone Santa Cruz

well.."potential" "possibly" and "hopefully" doesn't quite add up to "guaranteed" does it.

Yep, he is the real deal, top banana this guy. Would be surprised if he didn't score 50, scoop PFA player, football writers player and get a personal endorsement from Eusebio.
