I can’t see how Conte can carry on as manager now after these articles! He has now been undermined and his position seems weakened! No manager is bigger than the club and he either needed to commit or be honest that he was always planning to leave.

My gripe is not about the run of form (though it's been disappointing), my gripe is the current state and direction of the club under the current regime. I don't think it's hyperbolic at all. There are clearly things happening at the club to get another manager out the door and that's what is legitimately causing unrest. Another manager being screwed.

Nobody can possibly argue that we have progressed as a football club, slowly and steadily but progress all the same.

Nobody

Off the pitch, 100%. On the pitch, I'd disagree (unless you wanna go way back to pre-ENIC days). But since peak Poch days it's been a shitshow. Let me know why you would disagree with me on that.

Sooooo.......Conte eh?

Watched AGs latest vid last night. He said the post match press conference was very strange. Only a handful of questions asked, one of which was about the knuckle dragger that assaulted Ramsdale. He also said that Conte was going off on strange tangents, starting to talk about Tanganga when he wasn't even in the matchday squad and stuff. No one asked about Japh.

I know full well he isn't solely to blame, but he's really not doing himself many favours.

For me there is still all to play for, if we make a couple of shrewd signings like last season it's game on.

This is all caused by clickbait media, political Conte and Arsenal having a great season.
So things between our manager and board are all going swimmingly?

I think there's a bit of denial there.

Enic appointed Poch, they've been here 20 years.

Scholar bankrupted us and do you want Alan Sugar back?

Don't get me started on what they've achieved on the pitch during those 20 years. It's been done to death. They got lucky with Poch and screwed him over like they're in the process of doing with Conte.

What it looks like to me:

- Levy doesn’t want to spend anything in January on players that are specific to Contes style and shape, in case he still doesn’t sign a new deal and leaves in June. Levy also thinks the football has been rotten and is worried if Conte is even the answer.

- Conte wants Spurs to prove they will back him properly before he will commit long term.

A total stalemate which will result in Conte leaving, probably after the second City game at the start of February.

Rinse and repeat. Only this time Poch will return and be more “flexible”, which is basically code for taking the transfers he gets as it’s still better than the zero players he got for 18 months during his pomp with us. Levy will get away with it again, as he will gain favour with some fans who’ll be happy to see Poch return.

Honestly the only way I can see us having a way out this endless cycle, is if we get the Qatari’s in. Levy will likely happily spend money that’s not his and they will put pressure on him from within to ensure we are challenging.

We're on the brink of firing/losing our third manager in just over 2 years. Do we have to pretend everything is running smoothly because we're better off than we were 20 years ago?

The devil's advocate position is a tough one, but there appears to be a willing taker.
The issues are systemic, its clear enough. Progress as a brand, does not translate as progress to all.

Not saying that Levy necessarily is the only culpable party (as I do not know all the facts). But it seems to me like he believes that one-off over achievements (e.g. CL final 18/19, top four finish 21/22) should be the norm, and representing an excuse for not spending like the big boys. Having said that, I would understand him being reluctant to spend if Conte would not be willing to commit.

Why can't Levy just adapt to the situation. You bring in a world class manager like Mourinho or Conte to finally win something. You back them with the players they tell you they need - you won't always get their specific first choice, but obviously they want players who will immediately impact the best 11. You recognise that you have a generational talent in Harry Kane and to have one of the best strikers in the world already here is never going to be repeated. We have money, we have high sustainable revenues with the stadium, so push the bloody boat out, throw the dice. Back the world class winner you are paying millions to manage the team and then bring in a project manager to build the next phase of youth.

We are such an embarrassment right now. Mourinho was sacked days before a cup final, I mean who does that? How idiotic do you have to be to make that decision when we haven't won a damn thing in years. Jose of course was past it we were told, but still went on to win silverware with Roma in his very next season. Conte will be the same. Two of the greatest managers the footballing world has ever known, who have won everything, everywhere... except both will have a little asterix next to the tiny blip in their CVs which will read * see Levy. D...
A bit revisionist. In hindsight and because we lost it sounds crazy but at the time he had lost the players. It was bottom of the barrel stuff. The Zagreb ass kicking a few weeks earlier plus the city ass kicking a few weeks before that didn't inspire any confidence.

If we'd kept him on and lost, today the narrative would be how dumb it was to stick with a losing combo going into a final when a fresh face and approach may have given us the boost we needed to win.

If Conte won't sign and DL won't spend on players the next guy won't want then now is the time to change. We are safe from relegation and well before the CL kicks in. Only works if there is someone available who fits. It seems we have a couple of available choices. So it's crunch time for DL. He can't be blamed for making a tough decision rather than dithering.

Totally agree.

If Arsenal weren't top playing some of the best football in the league half the whining that has been going on this season would have happened. We're only 5 points off top 4 with half the season to go, still in the champions league and FA cup.

If we upgraded at right wing back and signed a rotation option in attack I fully believe in Conte to get us top 4 and the later stages of the FA cup. Getting rid of Conte now pretty much ruins our chances of us achieving this due to the disruption it will cause.
