Oh dear the Daily Fail are reporting that “insiders are concerned about the intensity and repetitiveness of Contes training sessions “ . Those with an allergy for success must have got the helpline number from Winks.
After the complete lack of intensity in all our big matches so far this season, the players need to look in a mirror before criticising a guy who's won titles almost everywhere he's been.

seems the players have started briefing the media. historically, this means a manager is on borrowed time. wonder if it’ll be different this time?

I did get that feeling that a certain few players who's days are numbered were just going through the motions. Let's hope the club stick with the manager and see it through.

This is also where the club need to make a stand and stop this despicable behaviour by backing the manager through thick and thin. It's not the coach but the players that should be on borrowed time.

In Conte and FP we have 2 men who know what they are doing. So all I ask from us fans is to be patient and support the manager.

I said other day this time we need to make it clear who is boss, just for those who could potentially start to become a problem

A readers comments in a Times article about Newcastle (below).
Question: is Howe the better manager/coach v Conte?
Howe hasn't demanded a whole range of new players. He's just very, very good at improving existing players.
Conte used to be able to succeed by drilling a squad of players to suffocate and out-systemise opposition teams.
But the fitness levels and skill ability across professional football have gone through the roof...and coaches now need to be better man-managers and part-time psychologists to win things. Conte needs to adapt his strategy...or it'll all turn ugly.

Fans comment....
"Six of Newcastle's outfield players, Schar, Longstaff, Willock, Almiron, Wilson, and JoeLinton started the game against Spurs , they were all at the club prior to the takeover as were 2 subs who came on, Shelvey and Murphy. Also Newcastle were missing Isak who cost around £60 million, St Maximin who was also at the club long before the takeover, would probably have started if he were fit also. Most of the new players brought in were reasonably priced defenders. It is the transformation of Almiron and JoeLinton that is one of the main reasons for Newcastle's vast improvement and that is all down to Eddie Howe, who saw things in them that the previous manager Steve Bruce did not. They could use a couple of creative players to come in, the squad is a bit thinner than the other teams at the top. The football is also a heck of a lot more attractive these days, and long may it continue."

I mean they ignored the fact we had numerous injuries, played way more games than them due to champions league

We may not like to admit it, but you have to give Howe lots of credit for what he's done so far with those existing players.

If you want your team to play in a certain way tactically wouldn't most managers repeat it in training often ? ... I bet Pep and Klopp have done the same thing thousands of times in training to get the players to understand each other with blindfolds on.

I don't get the comment from the article... other than an attempt to have a go at Spurs and Conte again ?‍♂️
TBF, the article doesn't even say it in a negative context. The paragraph even starts with the players hoping he will stay.

"The players will certainly hope an agreement can be found, although the intensity of Conte’s regime can be draining on occasions. His tactical sessions have been described as repetitive, while some players have even been known to run as much as 2km during the warm-up on a match-day."

Repetitive? They complain
Too light? They complain
Too challenging? They complain
Too varied? They complain
They article doesn't say any players are complaining, people are just taking 8 words from an article in isolation and jumping to conclusions.

Yrah espexuslly when you factor in United have played 9 of the top teams in their 11 matches
its easier for opposing teams to beat us as they know how we play...on the counter everytime, so they set up to negate that , let's see how we do tomorrow, you can bet we'll be sitting on the edge of our box waiting for a breakaway

That's pathetic if true.

We play with the intensity of a fucking camel.

It's clearly the same group of lazy players who are the problem.

Poor mentality behind the scenes, poor mentality on the pitch.

This is such nonsense. Did you watch our last champions league match? We played higher up the field.

Conte’s team are compact. They play a low, mid, or high press depending on the phase of match and/or the opposition. We absolutely don’t park the bus and counter in every match.

We probably knew this already but Dan Kilpatrick saying Conte will be backed in January, but needs to move on Gil & Tanganga to do so. Conte is happy with the size of his squad but wants to add quality.

Also means that new contract for him has to be around the corner. I still stick by my prediction it will be announced during the WC.

So if we don't offload Gill Tanganga and Sarr who have done the square root of fuck all we won't strengthen??? Why?? Surely just not registering them in the squad for a few months is what needs to be done if conte doesn't want them

It does look slow but wasn't there a recent stat that the players have run more than any other team ?

I wish people would actually read the article before bashing the players attitude and mentality or calling them lazy. There is no mention of the players complaining, in fact it states the players are hoping Conte signs a new contract.

The article states that "His tactical sessions have been described as repetitive", it doesn't even state that a player described it this way and if it was, for all we know, they could have said it was repetitive and they love it.
