Toxic is a loaded word but clearly their influence must have contributed to the malaise no matter what people think and that includes St. Harold here.

“Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.” - Sherlock Homes

They are associated with past failures, sure.

But what about the other fourteen/fifteen players who have only been in the squad for the past two or three years and achieved virtually nothing of note here in that time?

At least Kane, Son etc., can point to the glory days of reaching the finals and being involved in title races.

It’s almost making me want to watch it again to see how the players actually spoke to him. I remember Danny Rose talking to him but can’t remember if he was the only one.

Would any other owner do the same? Surely it’s part of the problem. Plus why would you want to be there when the manager is? All you’re doing by being there is undermining him or making him think he is being watched.

Distinctly remember Levy talking to Jose about how great Winks is, in the canteen with all the players around them. It's all wrong.

This is all that’s wrong with the club, and this is why players don’t give a shit and throw managers under bus all the time.

conte 100% hasn’t helped himself with negative tactics/attitude etc - but it starts from the top, and as we all know shit rolls down hill.

Because if one week you put on a top display in a win against City then the next you have put on a half arsed abject performance in a loss to Sheff utd. You'd deserve both the praise and the criticism, no?
Praise and criticism is fine, as long as it is reasonable.

Do you think contes rant about the players is reasonable criticism? Especially in the public domain?

Maybe if players perform against a team who plays one way but not against a team that plays another way, you as a manager should consider the impact of your tactics before berating the players?

Oh absolutely but, and to be fair @mpickard2087 elaborated on this aspect better, these senior players and 'talismen' are at least partly culpable to the repeated failings and situations we routinely find ourselves in.

I also hate the notion that we look to appoint a manager like Poch because Kane would approve and likely keep him here - I'm sorry, we appoint a manager that's best for Tottenham moving forwards first and foremost and not appeasing certain players.

Yes. Because some of them are far too comfortable here. Some of them have underperformed after over performing last season. Almost half the squad from the weekend are playing under their 4th manager now. What does that say?

Yes. Because nothing else has worked.

The players should be ashamed of themselves. The ridicule and criticism from the media and fans has been well earned.

Well, actually it does, it’s a quote to further an improbable story line, if you believe the quote to be accurate, at least a-sign it to the bloke who wrote it!
Sorry Graham, I copied and pasted it quickly from Google search.

I'll remember for future reference to pay tribute to Arthur Conan Doyle.

Agree on the other 3 but Dier reads to me as toxic. Dier comes across to me as a medium talent with a gigantic ego who takes absolutely no responsibility for his own action always shifting the blame to others.

His comments after the match really rubbed me the wrong way. He was atrocious Saturday and shouldn't be pointing fingers at anybody but himself.

Cool so it's all on Dier then basically, he's toxic. This despite the fact that Mourinho and Conte consistently started him, consistently praised him and Conte has pushed for him to be given a new contract.

You don't have to rate him, you can think he needs upgrading but are you essentially blaming the entire so called 'toxicity' of the dressing room on him? And I say that as someone who believes he should only be a squad player at best and needs upgrading.

Both yes and no tbh. I think he's right in what he's saying and I'm glad someone has finally said it publicly. do I think it's helped us in the short term with 10 games left? No I think it's done the opposite. Sometimes though you have to go backwards to move forward. It won't be with Conte but lets hope some of his words have struck a chord with both the players and the board, because what he said was true regardless of whether he's part of the problem or not.

I agree we shouldn't be appointing managers to keep Kane happy. But wasn't Kane in favour of Mourinho and Conte? There were lots of stories about Kane wanting to leave if Mourinho did, and even some suggestions about Kane going if Conte leaves.
