I’m not concerned about losing Conte, but at this rate we’re losing Kane. He’s not going to sign based on this.
We have some very average players, but you can get them playing better than that.
Maybe it’s time for a total rebuild??‍♀️

This is Chelsea backing conte who eventually left in his second season and left the club with this amount of dross. We are not a club that can just do this, imagine us trying to shift some of these players. This is why conte was never going to be a success here and why simply ‘backing conte’ isn’t the be all end all

THat is a hell of a lot of money and mortgaging our future, just to win something now and Conte to fuck off is not something im on board with.

Very much feels like Poch's last season when everyone kind of knew it was over way before it was actually over. Lots of similarities, even down to the manager stubbornly sticking to a system that didn't work and of course a chairman that didn't back the manager how he should have been backed. Maybe we'll get a similar Champions League run out of it - haha. Yeah that's not happening.

Feels like none of this really matters anymore - as long as Levy is in charge, Spurs will continue to go from one manager to another, spending less than everyone else, occasionally getting lucky for a season or two, but usually frustrating fans and not winning anything in reality. Until that changes, Spurs will always be a step below other teams because Levy is in charge.

De Zerbi would be my choice.

Fresh coach, fresh ideas.

Similar to when Poch came to the PL.

But its totally pointless with them in charge
Poch would be the obvious choice.

If Paratici is against that and we want to continue with 3 at the back I'd love the Atalanta manager. They're so fun to watch.

Got schooled again by a manager who’s in his first job because he showed he’s adaptable rather than moaning all the time.

Bin him. Can’t be arsed with him. Just want someone who doesn’t make me actively exhausted whilst being told how great he is.

I'm at the point where I Don't care if he stays, or goes.

Enic need to go first. I didnt care for this prior, but I feel like I'm being mugged off by levy and the rest
Agree really. It would be pointless getting rid of him, it would just reset and we would be back here in 2/3 seasons.

I’ve never been a particularly fan of Conte football, not at Inter and not at Chelsea. But he can win. But he won’t unless we back him. And not just back him a bit, back him a lot.

Tbh I never thought Levy had the stomach for it and I think he was gambling thinking that Conte would actually be able to get us purring with little spending. Every fan knew he wouldn’t. It’s literally impossible with the players we have and minor investment. But here we are.

I don’t see us getting top four with the team we have. Even if we bring in Porro and Trossard I don’t think we get top 4. The team is a result of years of poor management (from the owners) and poor recruitment.

Currently I think it’s pretty clear that we will never amount to more then a top 6 team as long as Levy/ENIC are in charge. I just feel sorry for everyone who forks out the extortionate ticket fees to watch this team. Each game goes by im glad I didn’t renew. At least I can turn off my tv.

Winning team of conte, as you can see it really wasn’t even backing conte that won them the title, it was mostly the previous personnel

All good things come to an end. Maybe it's time?
When Kane goes it is going to get worse. Imagine having a world class goal scorer for most of his career, an elite player, the hardest position to find and fill. The only strategy really needed was to surround him with good players.

Now compare that to what’s actually happened. Nuno, Ryan Mason in charge of cup finals. That’s the level of absolute f****** ineptitude that Levy has managed.

Until Levy f***s off we are screwed, he maybe be good at somethings but winning at a football club is not one of them.

They've spent £300-400M on players perfectly tailored to him and they aren't planning on stopping. He may have won them a cup already but he also took them to 8th twice, their worst season since 95. I'm not saying Conte is infallible but every top manager has been backed and it's taken them time to reach the very top. Arteta and Klopp took four years, Pep a bit more immediate but they spent way more, and even Sir Alex Ferguson took five years at United. It needs time and it needs money and if and when we back him can we truly see his limitations. Enough chopping and changing at Spurs, we don't have the money or the inclination to spend it to follow the Abramovich model.

Who do the people who want Conte to go actually want to replace him with?

I would get Potter. De Zerbi, has impressed me and at Shaktar but I havent seen too much of him. Potter would be someone who is better suited to us than at Chelsea. You can get Spalleti? he has been great for Napoli who are pretty much us in Italy.

Ive watched a bit of Championship and Burnley have been very impressive but that is the Championship so wouldnt put Kompany in there.

Yep it’s a very fair point.

I think if I’m honest I was blinded by this point and just excited that we’d finally hired a truly world class manager but as you say if/when he goes if we’ve backed him we’ll have yet another long painful rebuild to undo the squad to suit the new manager because we’ll have a squad full of specialist players for a back 3.

Chelsea are experiencing this with Potter transition from Conte & Tuchel etc

The more I think about it the more fully backing conte might not even be the right move longer term and when you add to the fact the football is going to be horrible on the way to him getting all these players he needs what is the point? :-(

His continuous backing of Lloris is very concerning.
I’ve actually gone past blaming the defence anymore.
Lloris has cost us in all every game we’ve lost recently (all of which have been at home)

The bigger picture? Oh you mean the 5 years of terrible transfers. Under investing in our squad and failure to ship out players past their best. A massively imbalanced team with no creative players and hiring a manager with a specific style and not giving him the players to play it.

The constant blaming of Conte (or any manager) for fundemental issues with how Levy has run the club. The expectation for a manager to win games and deliver across multiple competitions with a poor and threadbare squad. The lack of joined up thinking between ENIC, Paratici and Conte and the direction of the club. The fact every year we as fans are treated more and more as a commodity and afterthought and pushed aside.

But no, 3-4-3 is the problem… I despair honestly.
I actually think we have a fairly good squad, just I don't like Conte's brand of football and I don't think he is getting what he can from the current squad. I understand your frustrations fully, there in my eyes still needs to be a change at the top but I'd rather watch entertaining football and finish 7/8 than be bored and disappointed and finish what looks to be at best 5th. My thoughts were purely on Conte outside of other mitigating factors, and I just took exception to you belittling(in my eyes) anyone who would rather have rid.

I cant disagree, but Conte wants that 400m now. He doesnt want a four year project. He wants immediate success.

It's been like that ever since though. The only points in which it hasn't been, are the few months after new managers stepped in. Artificial life support. It was extended last season, cause Conte had us on a mission, and we had the benefit of only playing one game a week second half of the season.

This season our system and players have been confused by too many injuries to key players, too many games in too little time, never really catching up.

And yeah sure, Conte is inflexible, but we knew that when he was hired. He's well known for it, but we rejoiced when he came. He can still lead us to glory, but it WILL TAKE TIME.

I still have faith.
