OGS spent 400M at Utd and won.....sweet FA. I used the word 'guarantee' deliberately - you can spend 5 Billion on players and you are NOT guaranteed a trophy. It is a simple fact.
Your not guaranteed to win anything but generally who ever spends the most pretty much wins something

Yeah it’s rough losing one friend early, but two in six months is pretty awful. I’m sure it makes him consider his priorities in life, with his family living in Italy still. From a selfish spurs perspective I do wonder if that might factor into whether he stays. If it were me, I’d be wondering about being closer to family as none of us ever really know when time is up.
I wouldn't wanna be away from my family anyway, but to then lose two close friends in such a short space of time would rock anyone.

totally agree

That's what i was alluding to really - i wouldn't blame him for wanting to get out for non-footballing reasons.

All the more reason to make him feel it's worth staying, by creating an environment that matches his expectations, because he may think "life's too short" to waste his best years.

Nearly lost my mum to cancer, lost my dad to it a few years later, and lost two friends at a young age for different reasons and it's totally changed my outlook on life, what i'm willing to tolerate in a workplace, and more generally how I live my life.

Some people go on blithely as if nothing's changed - but I think that's rare in events like this.

Sending him love. It sucks a lot, particularly with losing Vetrone and Mihajlovic recently too. I’m definitely guilty of forgetting their people and we have no idea what they’re dealing with. Hope he’s got support and can see his family soon.

A few questions;
1. "Who ever spends the most pretty much wins something" - how much do you think we need to spend to "pretty much win something?"
2. Is that amount realistically affordable for us?
3. How much more is that than teams who currently have superior squads (Liverpool, City, Utd, etc) bearing in mind we have to first catch them up? So if they spend 200M in January and the summer improving their already superior squads, how much do we need to spend to match / better their squads?
4. Why disagree with my post if you now acknowledge you cannot guarantee a trophy?

Another period of mourning for him. If you have a soul, you have to feel for the man.

I don't blame him for cancelling the press conference again. Probably best for his mental health anyway to avoid the endless barrage of repeated questions like: "Are you happy?" "Have you spoken to Levy and Paritici?" "Are you content to stay?" "Did you tickle Son's balls to get him to score?"

Anyone got the quotes to save the majority of us from going on that atrocious website?

When asked about the pair's future at Tottenham along with their coaching staff amid the contract talk, Stellini said there is a confidence in the work they are doing and how long they will remain in north London.

"Every time we have confidence on this. It's not about the contract. It's about the project, it's about the future, and we are confident every time," he said. "Fifteen months is not a big period. We are in the way we expect after 15 months. For that reason we are in confidence.

"I don't know [how long it will take to reach success]. We don't know, but we are in the right moment after 15 months, if we compare our period to other periods in the past. We are in a good moment. We have to work. Like Antonio has said many times, we need passion and heart in the work.

"It's not the time of the contract that decides. Your behaviour is the work you do to decide the result. We are confident to stay here a long time because we are working hard and the players follow us."

Stellini basically spelling out what Antonio was saying the other day about being misinterpreted.

It's a unique situation between Conte and the club, its the way it is currently to protect all parties as he has a crazy salary. Personally I think everyone (media and fans) is overacting about it simply because its not the typical practice of a long contract - which 90% of managers fail to see out anyway.

It's what he was trying to say the other day, he wants to close the case because the constant questions breed negativity. He's fully committed to this season and intends to continue as long as the club backs him sufficiently (and doesnt sack him for Poch). It's as simple as that.

Even if he signs a new contract - the minute he does well, people will be getting anxious every time he's linked away, just like with Poch. Just enjoy the moment.

Conte "We exploited the period of the World Cup to work with these young players to improve themselves under the tactical aspect and physical aspect. Now they stay with us in the squad”

So have to assume our mate Djed just isnt getting it as he hasn't featured since WC

It might just be a case of Doc and Royal are just still ahead of him in the pecking order? They both were around for the training. Sarr, Gill and White have just got the nod due to the injuries?
