Eric Dier has branded supporter criticism of Gareth Southgate as ‘crazy talk’ after the England boss has been attacked for his overly defensive approach, being too loyal to certain player or even his political stances.

I don't know about his "political stances" but Southgate certainly has his favourites. Other than Kane Sterling is always straight in the team whatever his form is and this season it's been poor. Dier is probably defending him because in my opinion he's lucky to get picked. He's a good player and has some good games for Spurs but certainly not International class, again in my opinion. As for our (England) style of play Dier must be blind if he can't see how slow and defensive we are. Sounds like a real suck up job to me.

England will win nothing with Southgate.

Relegated Middlesbrough and relegated England. Some record that.

Dier gave a very impressive press conference, the southgate bit presumably from the embargoed section.
He dealt with the tricky questions with ease. He was confident, careful, respectful and amusing.
So nothing like how he is on the pitch...

Past achievements is one thing, but the run of form going into this tournament where England failed to score in 4 of the last 6 games, not winning any of those, should be a concern. It's also a bit odd because the run of form before that was encouraging, and then fell off a cliff against Italy, Hungary and Germany. No time for WC warm up games, either.

Also got us to a World Cup semi and the final of the euros for the first time ever

Wow...

Tell us all, which Trophy did we win for either? With the talent at his disposal almost winning something isn't success, and Conte, Klopp, Pep, Ancelotti and Jose and the like will tell you that.

Settling for almost winning something is a thing many Spurs fans class a success.

I was just pointing out his record with England was relatively good. I never said anything about us winning anything with him

Whilst I agree England need a new approach and manager Southgate has still been more successful than any manager since Ramsey and we certainly have tried a few "Johnny foreigners"

Southgate has probably come to the end of the road with England barring some kind of exceptional reversal of form in this World Cup, but I don't subscribe to the suggestion that he has been a failure. This, and the previous version of his England side, have not been a 'golden generation', but under him we've made a WC Semi, and a Euro Final (and a Nations League Semi-Final). Would another manager have won a trophy? Maybe, maybe not.

But historically he's our second most successful manager with probably our fourth best (post 66) team. That's pretty good and he should leave with praise.

Dier has made a few mistakes recently, but he was probably the best, most consistent and least error-prone English CB during the 2021-22 season. Also, he has international tournament experience, which I think some people underestimate the importance of. He's shown that he can deal with our hyper-criticial media and fans as well as crunch moments in big games (e.g. scoring a penalty in a shootout). It's something that a lot of people also overlook with players like Trippier and Sterling too.
Sounds like a real suck up job to me.
You could be right, but perhaps he's trying to be a positive team player / squad member by making efforts to alleviate the external pressure on his colleagues.
