So with all the interviews with Dier and they way he is talking it's sounding like he is pretty sure to be in the first team squad. It was my thought as well though that he would be as paying out 4 mill at least for us is not normally in the area of one for the future lets stick him in the reserves kind of thing. Anyone else agree with me that we might see a fair bit of him this season.
IMO, it's not being English or home grown that makes them expensive, it's buying from British club's, as they are generally richer than most clubs oversea's. For example, I don't think Coutinho would leave Liverpool for less than Sterling or Lallana.I would say the so-called "English premium" has as much to do with the homegrown rule as it does with clubs and supporters generally valuing having English players in their team. For some reason, teams like Liverpool (and us a few years ago) want their teams to have 7-8 English players in the starting 11, so they seem to be willing to pay more for such players. That's my view on it anyway, maybe it's also because in England English players have more commercial power.
