He was the best player on the pitch yesterday. It's great to see him with his mojo back.

But for our 3rd goal by Crouch, as much as Givet dallied on the ball allowing Crouch in, Robbo pushed Pavs shot right back out towards the players rather than pushing the ball away from danger - that wasn't particularly good goalkeeping. Great stop from Pavs though low down.

I actually rate Robbo a lot more now than I did when he was with us, I used to feel he conceded too many high/long range shots in his period at Spurs.

One of England's best and most consistent keepers right now I think though.

I love Blackburn at home. We always give him a great reception.

"You're Spurs, and you know you are". Big thumbs up from Robbo. Love it.

England's Number One, England's England's Number One.

Didn't see the game yesterday, but glad to hear that Robbo did well and get a great reception. And he has been good for Rovers what I've seen this season. Anyway IMO the number one for England is Hart.

Most of which would have beaten any other keeper in the EPL, or indeed the planet. The fault was with outfield players who stood off and admired Riise or someone's technique as they got a rocket off; this is something we've largely cut out over the past couple of seasons.

Robbo's fault wasn't that he could dither about coming off his line, creating uncertainty—although a constantly changing back line didn't exactly help matters.

I think he was slightly susceptible to long range strikes, but that of course was in part down to us allowing all and sundry a free pass to shoot from 30 yards, and then Robbo got ludicrously blamed for some goals that 5 goalkeepers wouldn't have got near - but looking back at some of those goals now, I ask myself whether Gomes would have saved them, and some of them I think a definite yes, but thats what makes him such an incredible goalkeeper - he saves those that your average keeper doesn't.

I had a soft spot for Robbo, like most, and in the end he was getting some ludicrous criticisms, but it's no contest for me as to who I prefer inbetween the sticks. I just think Gomes is on another level to Robbo, but yesterday I enjoyed showing my appreciation to both of them.

Agree with ss57.

Robbo was not terrible for us at all. He was and still is a really good keeper. He had a bad run and then the divot problem just killed his confidence.

he might even be back one day as a number 2!

That goal in Croatia really messed Robbo up, until then he'd been mostly excellent for us.

I wonder what had happened had Gary Neville observed one of the golden rules of defending, don't pass the ball back at the goal if you don't have too.

Agreed, I think his confidence took a massive hit that night and it's taken him a long time to get it back. Glad to see him playing well again though, he's a top bloke

Robbo reminds me of JOL ....we love them both...but would be a big mistake to bring them back.

Robbo's love of spurs is unquestionable, never the same after croatia game, and imo..wasn't really much he could have done. But the way his formed dipped after that was alarming.

So true, was great for a year, which is why we like him, but was shit for a year an a half.

Was he really the best player on the pitch yesterday?

Needed soft hands to palm Pav's shot round the post, something I learned when I played in goal at 9 years of age. He used to do that for Spurs ALL the time.

And the 4th goal, trickled in, totally flatfooted. Might not have got there at close range, but the lack of an attempt made him look bad.

He's still the only goalkeeper to have had Happy birthday sung to him by the Spurs crowd. Great moment that was. :)

Had to laugh too at the crowd on Saturday singing 'Robbo, Robbo give us a wave' when he was waiting for the penalty to be taken! Nice one guys! Shame we didn't get to find out if it had put him off or not! I think the 'super Pav' chant must have put Pav off though!

At 4-0 down he offered to swap places with someone in the Paxton lower so he could watch and they could go in goal :)

You can see how history gets distorted in the telling here .

Its so convenient to put Robbo's loss of form down to the Croatia match divot thing .

This will be written in stone soon .

Unfortunately its complete bullshit . He'd lost form earlier than that . The idea that one fluke like the divot did him in for years is so weak ...

...anyway , forget reality why fight the collective fantasy ?...I'm going to surrender to the myth..oh yeah one divot killed a career
