Here's the thread for left-midfielders/left wingers. Again, top 5 in order of preference. I'll calculate on Thursday.

And here's mine:

1) Ashley Young
2) James Milner
3) Scott Sinclair
4) Joe Cole
5) Stewart Downing

I've deliberately left out any player that I've put in my list of right midfielders. It's a pretty poor position for us again. I reckon Andros Townsend would worry a top 10.

A toughie. First two I could agree with, but after that not sure.

Joe Cole - looked washed up at Liverpool, but a minor renaissance in the easier French league for Lille - with 4 goals and 3 assists. Think he would struggle again in the Premiership, and whilst never that fast, what little speed he had has gone. Only thing keeping him in contention is experience imo.

Stewart Downing - Downing managed no league goals and no assists over the entire league season, even after taking one penalty and 72 shots. That has to go down as appalling form.

Think Andros Townsend would worry Scott Sinclair, but certainly a better option now than either Joe Cole or Stewart Downing (based upon current season - although next season he may improve and go back to no 3 or 4). Andros Townsend with 2 goals and a number of assists this season (including 1 goal and 3 assists in Europa League for Spurs, 4 assists at Birmingham and a goal at Leeds - so 2 goals and 7 assists ? and 2010/11 4 goals and 6 assists). Oh.... and he might get extra marks for his singing of 'Stand by me' which proved a minor internet sensation

1) Ashley Young
2) James Milner
3) Scott Sinclair
4) Andros Townsend
5) Joe Cole
6) Stewart Downing

1) Young
2) Johnson (does he play on the left?)
3) Sinclair
4) Zaha
5) anybody but Stewart Downing

1)Young

No one else... this alone would be a massive reason to move away from 442, England just don't have the personnel. Better to play 433 or 4231.

I'm quite happy if people name the left sided player in a front 3 - it's the way I'd see Young playing (in a 4-2-3-1).

There really isn't anyone worth playing on the left after Young or Milner. Milner isn't even a natural wide left player, but he seems to do OK there. Isn't Adam Johnson left footed, but always plays on the right? There's at least a top three.

2. Scott Sinclair
3. Oxlade-Chamberlain
4. Winifred Zaha
5. Stewart Downing

That was the toughest one yet. I also didn't put any I put on the right hand side list.

I think I'd actually rather see Ashley Cole or Leighton Baines at left midfield than Downing.

I was actually thinking this after seeing Baines play well against Norway. I genuinely think Ashley Cole would be a better shout than even Scott Sinclair on the left wing (at international level anyway).
