As one lawyer to another - on that we agree. It is a breach, and you must pay damages. But you do not have to fulfill the contract (continue to play a player) - only a matter of which is worse: fulfilling the contract, or paying damages.
Spurs can't walk away - but they can terminate the contract and pay the damages (rest of the contract).
Just as a player can terminate the contract also - no player can be forced to complete a personal services contract. Their damages are they are not entitled to be paid, nor play for any other club.
We kinda of agree - I just disagree with the "it's simply a case of paying damages which equals what he was entitled to". Because I don't think the quantum would be that clear; nor, more importantly, would Adebayor suck it up without lawyers being involved.
