exactly, he's on £175k a week. According to the bbc gossip page he's prepared to take a pay cut but would he really drop £100k a week or more to join us?

Maybe he realises that what he got/is getting at City is so ridiculous that it is practically "free money". If he gets what he got at the Gooners, then he's happy as that's a more "fair" wage (if such a thing as that exists when we're talking 70-80k a week).
He's made his money at City and has invested in something nice and safe like shares in News Corp, so he'll go back to a market-based salary.

"I would go there and sign for them and listen to what they have to say to me," said the 27-year-old. "I will definitely come back to the Premier League, I do not know when but I miss it."
Adebayor, who scored twice in the 4-0 first-leg victory, says he understands the abuse but that it hurt because he was close to moving to the club in January.
"I felt sad because before joining Real Madrid my first choice was Tottenham," he said. "I was supposed to sign for Tottenham before Madrid came in. I heard this song and I did not take it seriously because I know part of me is from London and Tottenham is part of London.
"They were angry with me because I was taking their team out of the Champions League and I can understand that.
"I did not take it badly but it is bad because people have to realise that we are footballers, today we play for one team, tomorrow we may end up playing for another. What if I am wearing a Tottenham shirt tomorrow?"
Fair play to the guy, I really did used to detest him, but came across very well on BBC's World Cup panel and has only gone up in my estimation since. Great player and would love him at Spurs.
Just imagine if he signs than goes to score the winner against Aresenal. There will be a riot. Can't wait if it happens.
