Tottenham Hotspur Join Race For Twente Defender Edson Braafheid – Report
The highly rated defender could be heading for the Grolsch Veste exit...
Dutch international Edson Braafheid has been one of the absolute key men for Enschede outfit Twente with his excellent performances this campaign and this hasn't gone unnoticed in the rest of Europe, leading to interest from several clubs, now including Tottenham Hotspur.
The left-back was already being linked with teams such as Ajax, PSV and Schalke in the past couple of weeks and AD/Sportwereld now claims that Spurs are also closely monitoring Braafheid's situation.
Manager Harry Redknapp recently stated that Tottenham will be one of the busier sides in the transfer market and the defender could be one of Redknapp's primary targets.
The 26-year-old's contract at Twente is due to expire in 2010, however, Steve McClaren's side are not planning to cash in on Braafheid this summer. They will offer the defender a new contract in the upcoming days.
Earlier reports suggested that Braafheid has a release clause of €2 million in his current contract, but Twente chairman Joop Munsterman has made it clear that this rumour is false.
