Arsenal and Tottenham are fighting for the loan signing of Shakhtar Donetsk’s Brazilian forward Douglas Costa, with Roma and AC Milan also keen.
Costa is one of six Shakhtar players refusing to return to Ukraine as conflict rages around the club’s home city – and the two North London rivals are offering an exit route.
But the 23-year-old’s current club are reluctant to sanction a move for one of their top stars, with owner Rinat Akhmetov already stating that: ‘There won’t be a clearance sale.’

It was only a matter of time before half of the footballing world started getting linked with Shakhtar's players.

I can see their huge Brazilian contingent forcing the club's hand and a mass exodus beginning given the situation in Eastern Ukraine, but I don't see why we'd want any of their players.

The only one personally I'd be interested in would be Bernard, but he's not one of the six who has refused to return to Donetsk from Lyon.

Some talented players that want out of Shaktar at the moment because of the situation in Eastern Ukraine.

Akhmetov doesn't want a fire sale....but i think i saw that Kia Joorabchian (everyone's favourite player agent) is going to try and get the contracts voided by UEFA because they are foreign players in a conflict zone which would make all of them available on free transfers.

Guessing if we actually chased some of these guys and made a half decent offer that Shaktar would take the deal rather than run the risk (even if it is a small chance) of losing some o these players for nothing.

Apparently (according to Shaktar manager anyway!!) Kia Joorabchian turned up and tried to get a load of them to come with a few of them refusing to leave and these 6 agreeing.

If that is true and he is trying to make money out of the situation in Ukraine then it just further cements my view that he is an absolute cancer on football.

I remember us being linked to the young Argie Striker Ferreyra last summer(before he signed for Shakhtar), and he looked like a great prospect. Maybe we might have a go at getting him.

Bernard was a shining example of the downfall of the Brazilian national team at the world cup. He looked like a 12 year old crack head and played like one.

Probably worth starting with the ones that are wholly owned by Shakhtar, but I wouldn't have a clue.

If you're asking about permits, if they don't have international caps they have to be under a certain age and considered an exceptional talent (which I think is judged by a panel to whom submissions are made). If the laws regarding this have changed in the last 4 years then I apologise in advance.

If you're asking which players I like then Fred (not that one), Bernard, Wellington Nem are all great talents alongside Costa.

Not sure about Douglas Costa. From what I've seen he's been very hit and miss. Not judging anything re: Brazil World Cup squad for numerous reasons but Bernard although talented is simply too small for PL imo. Fred would be an interesting one, he could be a superstar but I'm not convinced firstly, he's type we need and also spending a big fee on him would be quite a risk and not sure we have enough cash to do that.

I disagree, I thought he was one of their best players, even when the others were holding their head in their hands he kept trying to carve chances and get some respect. My opinion of him only increased at the WC unlike most of the Brazilian team

Actually the Brazilian at Shakhtar that looks like he's developing into a really good player imo is Alex Teixeira. A bit like Willian in his early days there, a bit hit and miss he now seems to be finding consistency more at his better levels
