I was a bit confused by Gilberto being given the no 7. I like the classic construction.

1 = GK
2 = RB
3 = LB
4 = CM
5 = CB
6 = CB
7 = RW
8 = CM
9 = ST
10 = ST
11 = LW

I know that 11 can also be given to a striker and there are all sorts of combinations, but that's the numbering I like. When I play FM, I give those numbers to my first choice team.

To be even more specific...

1 = GK
2 = RB
3 = LB
4 = DCM
5 = RCB
6 = LCB
7 = RW
8 = ACM
9 = ST (Goal scorer)
10 = ST (Creative)
11 = LW

I don't really associate the number 7 with a winger though. For some reason I see 7 as a wide midfielder like Beckham and 11 as a winger.

Modric will definately have number 14 (same as his idol Cruyff) and his number for Croatia. Im sure i read that in one of the BBC articles after we signed him??
