Do Spurs 'Bloggers' integrate well with Forums?

As above.

When things go a bit stale, I sometimes sniff around the more amateur sides of the internet, in-private browsing aside, and read blogs. Not the long and boring ones, but there's quite a few out there to meet different types of spurs 'news'.

For example, you can read about the youth sides with Windy's blog (quite well known), then there's Dear Mr Levy (which I believe is one of the guys who runs the fighting cock?) and a few others besides.

There's also a few weapons out there. One more famous one has with a seemingly opaque view on being a tottenham fan, ranging from supporting the subborn kebabery supplier on paxton road, to seemingly having a vendetta against the ownership. I'm sure we know that one too.

Anyway, reason I ask is that there's a completely opposite type of person who survive on a forum to one that can create a successful blog. It seems like you have to be really opinionated to run a blog, as your 'articles' have to be worth reading and thus stand up on their own accounts (after all, why read an article that doesn't commit to a side of the story - less appealing on some level?). It seems to me that if you were to be that kind of guy on a forum, especially this one, you'd last about 5 mins.

Are there many (or any) regular posters on here that are bloggers too? I guess we'll have nearly all the bloggers lurking in some form, least of all to get the material, but do any post often on here or elsewhere?

I think Malcolm Tucker best sums up my attitude to all but a handful of blogs on teh internetz:

I hate blogs. Most of them are just uninformed fans writing extremely biased "reports" on stuff we all know about already.

"How will X player fit in at Spurs?"
"Five players Spurs should sign!"
"Pochettino tactics breakdown"
Bla bla bla bla you are not interesting nor a good writer you fucking pretend journalist! FUCK YOU!!!!!

Like I said, I hate blogs.

Windy is fantastic. It's a long read but the guy puts the effort.

The other ones seem more click bait.

There's a few which seem quite "abrasive" that I've been reading. The style of blog where it feels like you're reading a load of horsedung that is theraputic for the author, rather than interesting for the reader. One example was this one
http://gottatrustolegibbsy.com/?cat=9

Or this one, which just seems to say one sentence then paste in random tweets on the subject http://www.tottenhamblog.com/2015/07/03/tottenham-fans-not-happy-as-konoplyanka-joins-sevilla/

It seems like 99% of them are set up to either trick you into reading the page, or as part of some sort of agreement with their psychiatrist.

Nice to see ole gibbsy is still about. He's really missed around here. By someone. Probably.

In fact I wonder what his new username is.

I enjoy the Hotspur Half Hour podcast but old Harry really needs to change the record on his blog.

He posts on The Fighting Cock and is as, erm, popular as ever.

I'm guessing that's my OP partially answered then. Comes across as a bit blinkered in the blog, maybe unable to change his mind over a player - in that example Danny Rose, who I think the majority (if not all) of us have admitted was a revelation this season just gone.

I've not got round to listening to podcasts, don't get the time in my job at the mo or in the evenings. Car journey is too short also.

From what I've read on his blog, he comes across as a bit crass - especially when arguing with the people commenting on his posts, calling them names and so on.

He's actually quite bright and articulate on the podcast - still grumpy, but it's far more entertaining than the blog.

He ran one blog that was a story about Paul Kelmsley buying the club that he lifted off this site. So he is definitely a lurker on here.

Unfortunately for him someone had decided to bump a 5 year old story which he took as current news. I pointed this out and he rewrote but surprisingly wouldn't moderate my comment.

Don't see the problem or point you are making.
I've done both for years.
Blogging is more reflective perhaps
You have space to develop a line of thought
although I usually use the latest match as a basis
but one feeds the other.
I enjoy the cut and thrust of fan sites
and I use the responses to my fan site contributions
as grist to the blogging mill.

The number of responses you get is hugely dependent on the headline
especially on Newsnow:click bait if you like but that's your own faults.
No likey, no clickey.
This time of the year if it's not transfer related nobody is interested.
Unless it says ' Bale returns? you don't click.
When you read the blog it's Bale returning from holiday.
I try not to be as blatant as that..
So I usually give it a rest until someone actually signs
or preseason starts.

Your so right about the summer months - if it's not about transfers, nobody's interested. If we signed every player mentioned in blogs over the summer we'd have 100 new players every year.

What's your blog?

Not sure if this is directed towards me.

I guess this would come down to the definition of, or difference between, a successful blog and a regular forum poster who happens to also have a blog. That's not mean to cause offence or imply that you don't have a successful blog etc, but more a case of point out that I mean the ".com" style blogs, those who seem to do it on a larger scale or with more abrasive personalities and controversial posts.

Thanks Jimmy for putting your blog up as I have now bookmarked it in order to visit it frequently as I've always liked your prose.

Yes it was a reply to the original OS.
I don't think many, if any, of the .com bloggers post regularly on fansites.
I can be pretty abrasive by the way when the occasion demands
Controversy for it's own sake is futile.
Heading for one and a half million 'hits' and counting.
Have a read there's no charge but all donations welcome of course.
