There are probably ways to demonstrate strong character, personality, competitiveness, spark and temper without punching someone very visibly and overtly in the tummy. And you'd have thought that a coach would be keen to work on those.

I imagine that Pochettino's line in private is very different.
The true greats , Messi, Greaves, Ronaldo, rise above it
and let their goal scoring do the talking.
Why descend to the poorer players level.
Needs to grow up fast on this one.
Nutmegging Modric is a high spot,
punching Yacob is a low.

What if we played Davies at left fullback and moved Rose to Alli's position, he might do quite well
Was thinking along those lines myself.
Davies yes.
move Rose to Eriksens left side position
and move E.inside to Alli's.
Rose is fit and on form and likes to get forward.
Saves him the journey back.
Hmmmmm. Might just work Watson.

Disagree with your logic there. Puberty does strange things to the human mind. As a ref, I find that the most aggressive and unmanageable players are in the U19 class. I'm not necessarily saying that you're wrong about Alli, but you change a lot as a person through your twenties.
That's a very good point, you're probably right to be fair.

Except the time Messi got sent off for elbowing the Hungarian player in the throat, or Zidane headbutting Materazzi or the times Cristano Ronaldo was sent off for a aggressive late challenge on a City player, headbutting a Portsmouth player, Kicking out an an Almeria player, trying to kick a Athl Madrid player in the face after a late challenge, Scratching a Bilbao player's face and lashing out at a Cordoba player (he even has a 9 min "Best Fights and Angry moments" highlight video on You tube) or Maradona sent off for kicking a Brazilian player in the stomach in 82. And also there is George Best punching Medina and on an another occasion throwing mud at a ref, Cruyff was the first ever player to be sent off playing for Holland, Ronadlinho kicked out at a player after being fouled, apparently Pele broke 2 players legs (Kiesman & Procopio)
and elbowed a Uruguayan player.

But apart from those few isolated incidents...

Might as well rename this thread to be Dele Alli and Moussa Dembele to face action.
