Haven't they just spent £20m on Chris Wood?
Dele's got to be worth more than that.

Howe's got plenty of form for over-spending on players, afterall.
Didn't he buy Jordan Ibe from Liverpool for an astonishing £16M?

Everton are in absolute financial meltdown at the moment. Really in trouble with FFP apparently, so he’s 100% not going there.
I'm sure I heard on the radio this morning that Moshpit, or whatever their owners name is has just pumped another £100m into them, taking his stake to 94%.
Maybe that'll ease things a bit in the short-term.

But yeah, before this window even started, I'm pretty sure their ffp spend limit was - £35m.

Edit. That doesn't look too clear but it's minus 35 mill.

Paul O'Keefe has said they're keen and if it's loan with obligation that buys them time to sort more finances out by the summer (like end of contract players etc.)

Would definitely prefer that over selling him to Newcastle and helping them stay up.

Goddammit, I love Dele. He is one of the main reasons I became a Tottenham fan. So many moments of pure magic, and he seems like a good person who loves Spurs. When we lost Dembele, and he was tasked with picking up some of the slack by playing more box-to-box, he didn't complain even though it meant fewer goal scoring opportunities. He said it made him a more complete player. And just the other day, he was out there smiling and joking with Stevie after the Leicester match, instead of just sulking because he was not a part of it on the pitch.

But it is clear that he doesn't have a place on this team. In fact, I'm not sure what his best position would be. When we play a 5-2-3, he is not rapid or tricky enough to be a forward, and doesn't have the defensive nous to be part of a 2. When we go 5-3-2 maybe he could be a second striker, but Conte seems to like someone rapid and tricky for that role (here, Son, Lucas, and Stevie, and Martinez at Inter) which again is not Dele. So maybe he could be the most advance CM when we play 5-3-2. This is basically how he played against Liverpool. But when we played a 5-3-2 against Leicester, he sat in favor of Winkes, PEH, and Skipp. Now, maybe that was because we have two of our CBs out with injury, and Conte wanted the greater defensive qualities that those 3 possess over Dele, and we would see more of him when Dier and Romero are back.

Clearly he needs regular game time. If he cannot get it here, I hope he gets a 6 month loan, regains his form, and finds a spot on our squad. I know that is unlikely, but still. What I don't want to see is a sale to Newcastle, which is then relegated, resulting in Dele playing in the championship. That would be gutting.

Ally Gold:

At the same time, Paratici is working on moving players out of the door, with Dele Alli believed to be interesting Newcastle United and Everton.

He's only got himself to blame though.
Kinda true. Not a good look, that he has played poorly for three seasons now under Poch, Jose, Nuno, and now Conte. Nuno notwithstanding, those are impressive coaches. And he has failed each of them, during this period of time. That’s not a good look. And a huge red flag.

Would be truly fascinated to hear what scouts and other coaches think of the current version of Dele. As I just see a flailing shadow of a former player, that is not remotely good enough to play in a ”top six” team.

It is a sad and beguiling fall from grace.

Did anyone see Dele in any of the celebrations mid week? Never saw him in a single vid!

I saw him in one today but to be fair, he was kinda strolling across the pitch towards the celebrating players, without any of the passion that most of the other subs had.
Most of which were screaming towards the players.

Now it was only a glimpse of him, so it's a bit unfair to judge but I almost get the feeling that if he's not involved in the win, he's not that bothered about it.

I got a similar feeling. The clip I saw made me feel like he was no longer part of the group. Made me feel a bit sad actually
