We needed a goal yesterday but replacing Dele with Sissoko wasn’t the answer. Not sure what was on José’s mind when he made that sub.
It's crazy people having a go at Dele Alli for that Everton performance it's like Mourinho threw him under the bus.
Smack of the Ndombele sub at half time against Burnley.

Really feel Dele may end up being a fall guy under Mourinho. Think Mourinho recognises what he can bring to the team but just wondering whether he's questioning whether he has the all round game to play in his setup.

Personally, don't think he has enough about him to play in central midfield. At his best when he is operating in the final 3rd and floating in and around the area. Either linking up with Kane or using him as a reference when deciding when and where to attack space.

The deeper he gets, the less effective he becomes. Saying that he is another one who suffers from the lack of incisive passing from midfield. Would really be curious to see how he gets on with GLC and a fit Ndombele in the team, although question whether we'll ever see the later.

Not sure why Dele got hooked at half time, he was looking one of our more dangerous players in a first half bereft of much quality.

The outcome of the second half just turned around for the worse when he was subbed. Still a little amazed of why he was subbed and why Sissoko was the replacement

I legit thought he was putting in a bigger shift than he had all last season and was getting frustrated that no one else was closing down in the first 15 mins. He needed to be played deeper, to sit on Allen to stop him from playing out but apparently tactics aren't all that important.

I can’t see how he could be surprised to get dragged, apart from pressing and the chance Pickford saved he was awful, he gave the ball away constantly.

It's a funny one with Dele. Jose obviously feels that he's not living up to his potential, he basically told him so in that meeting with him last season. However I do feel like Dele is one of those players that needs to be in a team that's performing well with attacking intent and possession to see the best of him. He's not likely to sit on the halfway line marking the opposition number 8, nick the ball and make a goal. That's just not his game.

So whilst I obviously agree that Dele's form has dropped off for a long period of time now, there's an argument to be had as to whether that drop coincided with our general fall from grace.

In the grand scheme of things, that may mean he's not the world class player we hoped for. A world class player can perform in any team and almost drag a team to his own level. That doesn't mean he ought to be scapegoated.

I was surprised he got subbed at HT especially for Sissoko, a player we can expect next to no end product at all.
But tbh I agree with you. Dele was most of the half (like usual) piss poor. Awful touch, awful decision making and lost loads of balls.

What you've said doesn't make a lot of sense he was the only one pressing and apart from Doherty had an effort on goal. We could of taken one off Moura and put another body in mid

I suppose I was referring to him losing possession consistently.

I still believe Dele is the player Mourinho wants to boss games.

It's about getting the best out of him.
I don't think his the man yet to boss games...his more of a support player lots of running off the ball finding space and being found to score or assist. You can see his frustration when certain players are on the ball and he doesn't get found or when he goes to press and nobody follows in

Anyone else notice how dele has changed his approach in games, he use set himself about on the pitch with a bit of arrogance and that in your face attitude letting the opposition know he was about, he doesn’t seem to do this anymore which is a shame, because this is what made him so good a couple of seasons ago.

its a jadedness that all the team have. The highs we hit without achieving, they're emotionally spent. Perhaps a few of these guy need new starts to really reach their potential.

I really hope there is no truth to the Dele swap rumors. He's a quality young player who is fully Spurs. As much as it would be great to have Bale and Reguilon it sounds like they both view Spurs as a step down [and in Reguilon's case, a lstepping stone to get back to Madrid if buyback is true]. Having starting players in the squad with this mentality could be a step forward but potentially 3 steps back in the future.

It's funny that after his bad games you see comments here that practically any pl clubs wouldn't buy him and now he could join Real ?
