Defoe has his game improved from the last time we had him?

Cant help but notice that JD game has improved since we had him last he is a lot better passer of a ball than he use to be he holds the ball up and lays it off well and most of all does not get offside as much as he did in the past, this must be down to Harry and the work he has done with him at Portsmouth. My question to you is do you think Defoe is a better player now or when we had him last time?

Its difficult to tell early on. Players always up their game when they move clubs. We'll see how he does over a run of games. He does looked an improved player though. But we had a better team when he was last here i think. Although this team is coming together now and the new additions will only improve us. And i think Defoe and Pav will make a great partnership.

Didn't seem to be the case against Burnley away, but certainly seemed more aware of his team mates last night. He did really well. I just wonder whether he is a better "home" player.

Regardless of that, i think the signs are good.

I think he was a lot more anxious, especially in the last year or so of his previous spell with us. He seemed to feel he had to score every game to try & keep his place and was playing with his head down a lot.
He's much more relaxed now he knows he's first choice.

I thought his link up play last night was fantastic, especially in the first half. This is something he seems to have added since rejoining us.

He had a good game but we will see.

He seems less direct and has better movement, seems a lot more difficult for defenders to pick up. He also appears to have improved his eye for a pass and improved his touch.

Perhaps it comes with the confidence of knowing you're first choice. Unlike when Robert Keane was here.

Remember that spell that Keane was injured, and Defoe scored about 12 in 12 for us?

We are seeing that Defoe now. Not having to look over his shoulder, and playing at peak form.

When Keane got back to fitness that time, and Defoe was dropped, that was a disgraceful decision, and Defoe was never the same for quite a while. Althout in hindsight Keane then had his phenomenal run....

Yeah I noticed that last night too. Never thought JD was a team player, got caught offiside too often and never passed to a team mate when they where in a better positon to score. Pleasantly surprised with last nights preformance, I always prefered RK to JD but if the little fella can perform like last night on a regular basis, (what's that three goals since he came back) a hope RK stays at LP and JD becomes the Spurs legend. I agree with this, he seems to always start well at his clubs then go a bit stale afterwards. Having said that on yesterdays showing his all-round game definitely seemed like an improvement to me. Had a good touch, awareness and was using his body at times to hold up the ball effectively which I've rarely seen him do in the past. What I want to see from him is getting away goals in tight matches with the score at 0-0, that would be the making of him imo.

its too early to judge but someone still needs to sit down with him and discuss the offside with him.
working with a different type of ex-striker like ferdinand should help him if they sit down and discuss things and talk through different runs etc that each would make

I think, as others have said, that it's about being relaxed. He's first-choice now, and doesn't feel under pressure to score a goal every time he gets the ball.

I'm certain the Defoe of 12 months ago would not have spotted the pass to Lennon for the first goal last night.

I thought last night was arguably Defoe's best game for us. Now he just needs to learn the sodding offside rule.

i have said that defoe has improved too
i was never a big fan of him first time around , thought he was limited in his passing and movement but he looks like a different player now
well impressed , hope he continues to play well and score goals for spurs

Is defoe 'quick' or 'rapid' - this isn't a criticism as I like the guy a lot but has he lost a bit of pace?
