Wow. Please talk to someone.

We were 3 goals from winning the league last year. Our offense stagnated when Toby went down. It would make sense to make sure that didn't happen again. We also lost Lamela for pretty much the entire season (after he had a killer pre-season). We finished the year on 86 points and had the golden boot winner, despite having serious depth issues up front. Now with another season N'Koudou and Janssen don't look to be a disaster; Lamela is coming back; and we may very well be in for Barkley (on top of any other attacker we bring in). To level such absolute judgment at this stage is a mistake. It not only means you've written off all hope of any other transfer activity, but it also means you have gone after the SC collective judgment and psyche. We love the team just as much as you do. We choose to look at things from a perspective other than doom and gloom despite the history that could justify such a perspective. We have the best team and best manager of my lifetime. Let's have a little faith that they know what they're doing. Let's give them a chance before we judge them as failures.
I have faith in the team. But not in Levy bringing in needed improvements. Sanchez replaces Wimmer, fine. A 3rd keeper? Yippee! Barkley? Meh. Hopefully Lamela gets back sooner rather than later. I really like GKN but i dont have faith in Poch actually playing him, sadly. We're gonna need Edwards to play alot this season, IMO.

When it became apparent we were signing this guy I asked myself how long it would take before the general feeling of 'ANNOUNCE SANCHEZ' would be replaced again by moaning about our transfer policy. The answer? About an hour

I notice Sanchez played in the champion league qualifier against Nice. Does this mean he will be ineligible for Spurs in our group games?

You may consider this signing unnecessary, our manager might be thinking 'hang on one moment:

  • Toby has two years left on his deal (or three but with the final year including moody discount fee release clause),
  • Jan isn't getting any younger any gets one big injury every season,
  • Kevin hasn't performed for a while and is agitating for a move,
  • Eric wants to play in midfield more and has had patchy form lately,
  • Mousa is injury prone,
  • Victor gets suspensions,
  • Winks has just had a bad injury and is yet to prove himself and
  • Carter Vickers doesn't ready ready yet.
Getting this guy means we will have nine players for 4/5 positions depending on 4231/343 and allow our manager more flexibility to switch between them regardless of injuries and suspensions. Last season if any of the centre backs or central midfielders was unavailable, because neither Wimmer or Carter Vickers was trusted enough, we could only play 4231. Now we will have another top quality centre back and be proofed against most eventualities, this will be an invaluable to Pochettino.

As much as I always crave an exciting new attacker, and really want Barkley, for our 3/2 AM positions we have Eriksen, Dele, Son, Lamela, Nkoudou and Sissoko, not to mention hopefully the emergence of Edwards. We are very well stocked up in that area.

I haven't been this excited about a Colombian signing for Spurs since I made a double swoop for Luis Quinnonez and Freddy Leon on Championship Manager 95/96.

They were fucking awesome.

Genuinely think this is a signing for the first team allowing Poch to push Dier up into his preferred midfield role to rotate with Wanyama.

This.

Last summer our most successful signing was a defensive one (Wanyama as our anchor in midfield.)

Our social media team have had a lot of time to plan let's be honest lol.

I agree to a certain extent but what happens if Eriksen gets crocked ? We were never in trouble at the back. We had ample cover in tripps and davies although both were deemed lesser players early on and we had Dier and vic to cover at cb if needed. And wimmer whose confidence was clearly poor after never getting played.

When toby got injured we had to change formation to 4-2-3-1 wimmer didn't seem up to cover.

For am we have eriksen, dele, son, lamela, sissoko, gkn and edwards. From reports it looks like we are looking to get another. Barkley can also play there.

If we are up to that level, it will be a video of someone typing his name into Google.

I've a good Ajax supporting Dutch friend who text me last night Quote,

" Congrats Dave. The Spurs bought the best player Ajax produced in decades. 45 million (euros) seems like a lot of money but I think in two years he will be worth double that money. Sad to see him leave but happy it's the Spurs who got him and not Real Madrid (who were willing to pay the same sum).

He then went onto say he was miles better than Vertongen when he left, also thought Madrid was more logical as he speaks Spanish but he heard our manager persuaded him.

He expects him to be first team, said he scores 10 important goals a season , is excellent all round and has really strong character.

Nothing new or different to anything that's been said but it's nice to hear from someone who watches him every game.

Everton's Siggy video is so bad it looks like it's been produced by some vacuous fifteen year old whose made the whole thing on his iPhone 4

Sounds good but the dude isn't an Ajax product and only scored six last year, haha. Still, I'm excited too.
