It's not about dropping him, it's about getting competition for places.
People have come out and said he should be dropped for Sanchez, a player that hasn't even been signed. All this talk about rotation as well has got out of hand we need a minimal amount of rotation not mass imo it is more important to have a core of players to be successful Dier is one of those core players who has great flexibility of positions.

We have be careful not to over load on players bloat the squad with fillers I'd rather we be lean and mean and look at our development eg kwp

Looked to me like a couple of fouls in the penalty area by Sanchez. Seems to push people off the ball. Hope I'm wrong, but that could cost us in the prem.
Yes, Premier League referees are well known for being fussier than their European counterparts.

Just reading all the media reports and it does make you realise just how much is guesswork. Two have a contingency from Spurs on their way to Amsterdam in order to finalise the deal whilst another three suggest Sanchez is on a plane to London now to presumably have a medical and sign on the dotted line.
It does look as though this is going to go through and the lad seems very keen on joining Poch and the squad...be nice to see something finalised by the time I come home from work tonight....getting ribbed something awful about lack of transfer activity at the moment. Fingers crossed (y)

I tried to send your wishes to Levy via the Uri Geller method of staring at a picture of him whilst rubbing myself in the toilet area but the bastard is currently sitting in his high chair tucking into a bowl of cornflakes and I couldn't get through, for some reason, this method aroused me and interrupted it all.

If this wasn't happening then Ajax would have released a formal statement saying so. While none of the newspaper reports have been conclusive, I think it's safe to assume that collectively they are correct - we met with Ajax yesterday, the negotiations are ongoing today, and it is expected a deal will be reached.

It's pretty much the first thing to be agreed these days, no point bidding for a player if you can't afford his wages.

You're right to an extent. Poch has even said many he times that he prefers a smaller squad with adaptable players, so everyone feels included. However, recently he has talked about adding quality to the squad to push the current first 11 so they don't drop their performance level. This is why I think Sanchez is being brought in. Currently Verts/Toby/Dier are unchallenged as our back 2/3 - they need genuine competition and that it what Sanchez brings. If any of them drop form, then Sanchez comes in, if he play well, then he keeps he place and it us up to the benched player to get back in. It's that squad competition that will ensure we keep pushing on.

Plus with the champions league we essentially need 2 first teams as we can't hammer the same 11 twice a week without fatigue setting in. It's a squad game.

I fully get why we are making this signing now. And if Dier/Jan/Toby have belief in their ability they will welcome this signing as well.

It might be the wrong thread, but with the way it is being reported, I hope this deal does not tarnish our relationship with Ajax.

They have given us some quality players recently and they have a strong academy, would be good to keep things positive between us.
