David Beckham will win his 100th England cap in the friendly against France on Wednesday, coach Fabio Capello has confirmed.

"I couldn't make him come all the way from the USA and not play him," said Capello, who did not reveal whether Beckham, 32, would start the fixture.

Beckham becomes only the fifth player to win 100 Caps playing for England:

Billy Wright
Bobby Charlton
Bobby Moore
Peter Shilton

A fantastic achievement

I know lots of people think he is past it, or not fit enough, but the guy is fucking class.
I know the media love a bit of Beckham, buts its hard not to like this guy, he plays with his heart and he wants to carry on playing football.
He is probably the richest footballer, ever. Yet he still wants to play, and he will probably do alright.

You cannot deny, that he brings a certain buzz to the game when he comes on the pitch.

I'd expect him to get a half, maybe even set up a goal or score himself.

Hope he gets a few more after this too.

I heard on Talksport that tomorrow is 'David Beckham Day'. St George must be pissed.

Agreed Shanks - He's been through some major highs and lows in his career and is the better man for it. He was a great England captain and thoroughly deserves his 100th cap. Should have been made captain for the game imo and it's a shame it's not at Wembley too.

Yeah top man that Mr Beckham.

Got a lot of grief in his career, but compare him to the likes of Ashley Cole and John Terry and I think its makes its very clear what an excellent professional and role model he has been.

I think growing up with Sir Alex Ferguson has been a huge help IMHO.

Posh caught him wearing them all the other day - he had trouble balancing them though.

The guy has really shot his bolt. For England's sake, they should be giving the chance to younger players like Lennon.

How many of his caps have come in friendlies? I'd like to compare that to those of Moore etc.

Can't stand Beckham on a personal level, if ever fame and celebrity has fallen on someone so undeserving, he's your man. Saying that he pretty much sums up modern England.

Give or take played in the same era as Zidane and not worthy of cleaning his boots, great he most certainly is not and would only be a legend for the blinkered English few.

He was a very good player no doubt about it and one of the best Englands produced in the last few decades, but that only goes to show how average as a footballing nation we've become.

I dunno there was a time where Beckham was doing it week in week out, not on the level of Zidane, but he was still up there
