I mean, if speed is the only quality we’re looking for and we haven’t learned from earlier mistakes about HG-issues (and youngsters from Leeds): why not go for the real deal?

Introducing (drumroll please):

Jeremiah Azu
21
Welsh
British champion and resent European bronze medalist on 100m.

Don’t know how tall he is though, but most sprinters are 6ft or more.

Way cooler name too.

Thank lord he is down the list, beside Traore hopefully, the list is not inspiring, Zaha over these two any day, at least he scores goals.
But concerned at the lack of centre half's we are ring linked with.

Sounds like he'd fit in well at Palace, a front 3 of Eze-Azu-Zaha

I cannot imagine Conte in the summer or even a week ago thinking he couldnt wait to bring in James. I know we dont sign anyone unless he rubber stamps it but there is a difference between what he wants and what he gets. So I think we can question any interest in someone who really - has been benched by both Man United and now Leeds.

I dont think he is terrible and does help with transition given his pace but he is a highlights player, same as Traore. Theyll do a few good things every now and again but in reality theyre just not top four or CL material.

I dont think we will get James at the end, think Paratici has one or two better lined up but if its between nothing or James, we will get James... (although id rather keep Gil)
Tbh considering Contes record of signing unpopular players I'm surprised we haven't seen more links

You don't find it interesting that it only takes one potential signing for a backup position to make every fan guilty of the one thing that Daniel Levy is most criticized for by the same fans?

A couple of points

With every position we strengthen there is always a worst case scenario link, it's how Paratici works and yet people still panic!

Also this is an odd link. Not because I think his rubbish but he has a similar skillset to Lucas who is going nowhere.

Metalhead

But that's a debate for another thread.....

He must be very average because at this point in the window, players that were previously snubbed by people on here are normally escalated to 'must have' signings but he's been pretty consistently a 'no' from almost everyone.

Yeah Gil is left footed too so imo a better fit for the right wing. As another poster said previously, even Spence as a winger would be a better option than James. Alternatively we'd be better keeping Reguilon and pushing Sessegnon or Perisic further forward.

No reason to do this deal at all. Makes no sense.

Loads of aggregators doing the rounds of saying, "
Fabio Paratici is putting contingency plans in place in case #thfc miss out on Dan James. Possible alternatives are being identified." from Fab Romano but I can't find the original source, whether that was on YT or a podcast.

The thing about the final few days of a transfer window is deals are often on, off and then on again in the blink of an eye. I wouldn't count anything out at this stage, especially when we are talking about fringe players at best.
