I’ve literally stated in my post that he’s clearly the cheap backup option to a hopefully better signing. If the options end up being him on loan or nothing, I’ll take him.

Gil’s at an age where he needs experience and regular game time. We’ll hurt his development if we keep him on the bench with the odd run out in cup games.

James is what he is, a hard worker who runs fast who’s decent enough. He’s a good player to bring in against tired legs in the last 15 and that’s what you need from your 6th option.

Ideally though we’d get Zaha and make Lucas 6th option (as he is the same kind of player as James but miles better)

This, for me, and it's in everyone's interest for Bryan to play so that he can develop both as a player, and as a financial asset. I could imagine signing someone like this to take his place in the squad to allow us to spend the non-HG spot at the back and let Japh go out.
