According to Sky we are watching Daniel Diaz of Getafe. I'm no scout, but I have seen him play a number of times and from what I can gather he's a tough, level-headed defender who generally plays on the right but can play in the center as well (in fact he has played in the center this for most of this year if I am not mistaken). He's had a good season at Getafe this year, might be a good addition.

The Telegraph says that we are close on a £3mil deal on him, take that for what its worth

Was he the one who was pretty good in Jol's last game?

Sounds like good cover for the Hutt whilst also offfering centre back cover.

Not the commanding centre back we need to play with Woody but sounds useful nonetheless.

Yeah, whilst he has been in the center for most of the season is largely to as cover; he's done well but is a more natural RB, would be solid cover for Hutton if/when Chimbo leaves--perhaps fill-in our generally empty LB? Though the right foot is a problem...

In all, he would be a useful purchase particularly because he is a defender first and foremost--could help tighten things up in the back when we need it.

I would prefer Garay as our Ledders fill-in, personally. Haven't heard much about that lately...

He had a pretty good game, not exactly standout--he looked good in Getafe's UEFA campaign though...and has generally helped them get sorted in the league (away from relegation).

he looked good first half agisnt us but was all over the place when we showed up in the second. getafe were a good side last year but have been poor this season in the league.

to e honest though my mindwas on other things in the getafe game and that was my only opporuntiy to have seen him play live. I may have missed a few good things becasue i had something in my eye.

I wasn't crying...

I was at the Getafe game, and all there players were far superior. Let us reserve judgment until we see him in a Spurs shirt, endorsing an obscure Spanish defender is utterly pointless.

He's not that obscure: played first team for Boca (67 aps, including being in the first 11 for the 07 Copa winning side), was a captain at Colón, has several caps including the 07 Copa America side, and has played in nearly every Getafe game this season. Just because he is not particularly well known to English football fans doesn't mean he is obscure...

Plus, he's Argentine not Spanish.

IMHO he would be a good buy--a solid squad player, useful.

In the league, maybe, but they still came heatbreakingly close to putting Bayern out, despite playing with ten men for most of the leg. Although that possibly says a lot more about Bayern than it does about Getafe.

Shame that Abbondanzieri, who looked very safe between the sticks at the Lane, dropped the ball on to Toni's foot.
