This was sent to me so not sure on the validity but certain some on SC will know about it if true

*Cyprus Spurs Supporters Flag Removal From South Stand*

To whom it may concern,

I understand that the owner of the flag of Cyprus with the Spurs logo on it which was proudly displayed on the South stand has been told to permanently remove it.

As the club is aware, the Cyprus Spurs flag has been proudly displayed on match day, representing the loyal support of tens of thousands of people of Cypriot descent, for decades. I am one such supporter.

If this is true, I would like a response to the following questions as a matter of urgency before I make the decision to collaborate in excess off 100,000 Cypriots who reside in North London & England with regards to taking further action.

1) Is the above circumstance correct?

2) If so, why was the decision taken to demand the removal of the flag?

3) Does this have anything to do with the club sponsor “Getir”?

4) Will all other nationality flags be banned as well ie. South Korean, Irish, Argentinian, Italian etc.

Please treat this matter as one of urgency as I do not wish to support a club that does not show the same respect and loyalty that the supporters show to the club, and endeavours to make discriminatory demands towards its supporters.

I read somewhere and I could be completely wrong but "political reasons" and our training sponsor being getir who are turkish.

Absolute shit show from the club

its an absolute disgrace if that was the reason which I suspect was

My best mate is the owner of the flag, Charlie a black cab driver.
He has been having problems with the stewards refusing it in one week and allowing it in the other.
The stewards are by no way at fault, let's be clear, they follow orders.
This problem only arose this season btw, the flag has been a permanent fixture going back to the lane in the Paxton.
Charlie ,has been emailing the club with little hope of getting the flag back in, the reason he was told, political
GETIR our new sponsor, are Turkish, Charlie suspected them tbh, but has no clear evidence this was the case.
The stewards first told Charlie they would only allow it if was moved from it's current position because it's shown alot on TV as it's in Conte eyeline....make that of what u want.

This week Charlies son got involved and got social media involved
It went mental
The club shit themselves as the racism subject was questioned.
That is the last thing they need, our club is so multi cultural, the damage would have been immense.

The club told Charlie yesterday he can bring the flag back in

BUT it would be reviewed end of the season.

Hope that clears this up, for those interested that is.

This is another indication how our club is changing, little thought of our loyal fans..... just about money.

Fyi throwing getirs name in without evidence is a little racist as well. By all means get evidence and then justifiably do it.

Fact is that flag has been a part of my match going experience for a long time and we should be proud of the makeup of all our fans.

I'd have loved to see them back pedaling when you asked if they were banning all flags.

If the club allows you the flag for 20 years and then tell you to remove it for POLITICAL reasons, the year a Turkish company sponsors the club,
Turkey in conflict with Cyprus,
I don't think it's so far fetched to suspect that.
I also stated Charlie had no concrete evidence but suspected given what the club had told him the reason was.

How else could it have been political, which is what the club told him.. which is FACT btw.
Nothing racist our end fella.

Let's put the getir speculation aside as it's a distraction that will cause anger between fans.

Whatever the reason, deciding that the flag is "political" after all these years is just another example of the club not giving one solitary shit about actual loyal fans.
