I think more the fact he was repeatedly right in the way of play and, while i'm the furthest thing from a gymnast myself, he looked like a fat, drunk guy stuck on a level crossing trying to get out the way.

No you're just being bit precious. They should recognize that Sissoko brings value to the squad. That doesn't mean that he hasnt been a disappointment while at spurs. People should be allowed to make mistakes without saying that their opinions are shit.

People give him shit relentlessly even when he doesn't play that bad, his game get's magnified because of the money we paid for him and the fact that he doesn't fit people ideology of a Spurs player, the criticism has been OTT, that absolutely categorically cannot be denied and you would have known that if you were paying attention in match day threads and the player thread.

It's a feature of what goes on on the internet and SC is just a minor part of it, confirmation bias.

Of course. We did that pretty much all through the 90s with most of our players. There's a couple of players at the club now that I don't rate, but just because I don't think they're that good doesn't mean they don't deserve my support.

They wear the shirt, we support them. At least, we always used to until the internet came along and everyone started using it to hurl abuse at anything and everyone.

I remember getting Nicola Berti in the 90s and even though he was well past it I still got behind him. The same goes for Ramon Vega ???

This is why you always have to get behind a player who wears the shirt. The slagging off of Sissoko remains one of the most embarassing things I have seen from our "fans" in recent years.

Unless a player openly disrespects the club he deserves our support. And that applies to Sissoko as much as the latest hate figures like Trippier, Dier, Davies and Llorente.

There’s a difference between constructive criticism online and say, booing him at a game. I agree that the latter is awful but the fact is his performances up until the last few games have been debatable at best and quite often, especially last season, terrible. He’s been better as a whole this season and the last few games he’s been much much better than he ever has been for us. Long may that continue.

When I’ve criticised Sissoko I’ve always given reasons why. And I’ve almost always ended my posts with ‘I’d love him to prove me wrong because it means Spurs will benefit from it. At the moment he’s proving me wrong and I’m very much enjoying it. Don’t get me wrong, I still have lots of doubts about his ability etc, I’m not sure he’d have played so much if it wasn’t for the injuries and being honest, I’d still rather see someone else in the team but the run he’s having, he’s showing more confidence and more menace with each game. It’s quite satisfying to see. I don’t tut when his name is on the team sheet lately, which is cool.

The best compliment I can give him is that over the last few games, he no longer looks out of place in the team.

They won't though...they're too busy getting their knives out for this months scapegoat.
Anyone who did as I suggested, is being made to look a bit silly now, and lets face it... cant judge a player for shit, Im deeply sorry if this upsets you.

Yeah but just because some people don't know how to have an adult conversation doesn't mean there has to be this effort to rewrite history and silence every sort of criticism. You guys focus so much on the crazy that you miss most of the points others are trying to make.

We’ve got about 300 players out injured and half the players in the team or on the bench aren’t fit yet but that’s 3 massively tricky away wins in a row now. This nonsensical opinion that we’ve got a shite squad with no depth needs killing now. The squad players have been carrying us all season now.
Get some of these key players back in and fully fit and we’ll be flying soon performance wise. Cliche but sign of a good team is getting 3pts despite performance.

Why give them so much attention then? It's only futhering disrupting discourse on this site imo.

I don't think that's the case at all.

Would you admit that he's at least had a load of unfair criticism? Even if it's the odd one liner, there's more of that shit compared to the constructive criticism.

There's literally 100's of examples of that in the match threads and the player thread, people just generally go OTT.

It was a good result whilst still not really at our best apart from the last 10 mins or so when we seem to be clinging on which got a bit edgy watching it the team did well all round.

Yes Sissoko has gotten an unfair shake more than any other player on this site in my time posting. But every player gets unfair treatment from time to time. Doesnt make it right but it comes with the territory.

It's just a shame when the same logic is used to shield discource around players who have shown a trajectory of worrying displays. There are just some players that we need to think about improving upon if we ever want to push on. But people see the crazy and go blind to the real concerns.

Still it's nothing to boast about. You have to be completely shit to let Palace score against you at home...

How is the shit Sissoko got any different to the piles of shit Trippier is currently getting from a lot of you?

who's saying sissoko is shit? I've said Sissoko has value and an important role in the team.
