Cristian Stellini reveals role in tactical switch for Tottenham win over Manchester City

Tottenham assistant manager Cristian Stellini revealed today that he and Ryan Mason devised the plan to push Eric Dier into midfield during the 1-0 defeat of Manchester City.

Dier stepped forward out of Tottenham’s defence into midfield when Spurs were pressing City on Sunday, most notably just before Harry Kane scored the only goal of the game. The tactic was praised afterwards as integral to how Spurs put pressure on City and recorded their best win of the season.
