Tottenham assistant Cristian Stellini has acknowledged the mentality at the club must change if they are to end their trophy drought but insists no-one is happy with just a top-four finish this season.

Spurs suffered a painful FA Cup exit at Sheffield United on Wednesday, which means their long wait to win silverware again will likely extend into a 16th year.

Had fuck all to do with mentality and everything to do with piss poor team selection.
It had everything to do with mentality.
Same as it did against Boro, Norwich etc. Too many players thinking they only have to turn up to win and not being prepared to work as hard as the opposition.

And this is not limited to the players that came in. A lot of then manage to show the right mentality in big games (City & Chelsea recently as examples) but can’t in lesser games.

You cant just throw any old 11 together and they'll perform as a team no matter how good they may be!
Look at Chelsea, quality throughout but they've all been slung together and its a disorganised shit show.
Lets go through that 11.
Forster, 2nd string keeper but not a lot we could do about that but when picking your defence you should still be aware of who is in goal.
Porres, Has been here 10mins and not had 1 training session with Conte. Doesn't know anyone or how we play.
Sanches. Utterly fkin useless. Put him next to the new bloke (AGAIN). Great idea.
Dier, First 11, fair enough.
Davies, First 11, fair enough.
Perisic, Been bloody awful and dropped recently. Get him back in this'll be a laugh.
Hojbjerg, First 11, fair enough.
Sarr, promising but still a young lad without much game time with us.
Moura, Been out injured for months and hasnt played.
Richarlison, been playig bit parts and not scoring.
Son, In awful form and also been dropped recently.

Now I dont know how you're looking at that but to me thats a recipe for disaster. Especially in a game away from home.
You've got Sanchez, Pedro, Son, Moura and Perisic who shouldnt have been anywhere near that line up. Thats half the team.
We may have got away with a few of them but not all of them.
The truth is the club just doesn't care about domestic trophies.

So how do you explain Boro last season & all the other cup exits over recent years??
Truth is we have a handful of players with a strong mentality, actually probably only Kane & Romero. So regardless of who is playing, we are always liable to lose these types of matches. And we often do.

That starting XI had enough talent to beat an under-strength Sheff Utd it’s just they were arrogant and didn’t have the bollocks to match the other teams commitment.

I explain the previous exits the same way. I cant even remember what those line ups were but I'd bet they had wholesale changes and we weren't full strength in any of them.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I think that you do have a point because all the times i can remember us making wholesale changes in the past, I can't remember it working well - unless we're talking the level of Marine FC but Sheffield United did manage to do it and win so there must be an element of mentality.

I watched Portsmouth win the FA cup a few seasons ago, I guess that club had the right mentality.
