Antonio Conte has made it very clear that the key to fixing Tottenham is creating a team that is "more stable than the past".

Surely there comes a point where you think maybe it's not the last three (four if you include Poch's last 18 months) coaches that are the problem?Well obviously there is no answer in the article, but the first comment is worth the pain - the main problem is the coaching.

We lost 13 league games the season we lost the CL final. The writing was on the wall back then & Poch told us (Levy)The playing side of the club needs an overhaul. The culture and philosophy needs to change.
Poch was a young manager who had won nothing as a manger and the club signed younger players who were able to develop with him. That philosophy worked well until the Champions League defeat. The club and Poch needed to move forward together and did not. Needed to sign winners and the finished product.
Mourinho made sense as his replacement. Win things with a team that was competitive. Firing him before the League Cup Final means we will never know if he could have led the team to success. End result is a team that continue to fail at the last hurdle or two.
Nuno was another manager who had won nothing previously so the signings needed to be of a similar nature and a clear out of the nearly men allowed to happen. The club went with young foreign players when it should have gone with young proven Championship or Premier League players.
Conte comes in as a winner. He now has to change the mindset of the players, some limited players and most who have not won a thing. Can he lead this team to success - the answer is no. Europa, Conference and FA Cup results show that to be true. Can he lead the club to success? Only time will tell. A lot will depend on his recruitment this summer.
The focus should be on signing winners or players who come from clubs with a history of success and expectation. We signed Sessegnon when we could have signed Tierney. Rodon when we could have signed Thiago Silva. Conte needs to sign the players he wants. For the now. For the 2022-23 season and not for the future. If the club wants a long term plan then let Conte go and go after a Graham Potter type.
This club is at a major crossroads. Get it wrong and it could be a long time before we get back to where the fans think the club should be.
True. The club needed to do a deep dive that summer and ignore the run to the CL Final. There were major cracks in that team and in Poch's coaching too. More should have been asked of him rather than basking in the emotion of that night in Amsterdam. We lost 13 league games the season we lost the CL final. That was the major crossroads and we’re still stuck at the junction!!!
It's an attitude problem with the players , we have seen it under under Poch, Jose, Nuno and now Conte , we play a team that our players think we are superior too and they think they can just breeze through the game without putting in full commitment, Gent, Colchester , Zagreb come to mind.
Bang on. Players either have a winners mentality or they don't. Very rare to significantly improve a player on this attribute via training unlike the tactical and physical side of the game. It's not an attitude problem at all, it's just that the majority of that starting eleven do not have the right character. That's one thing you cannot train and that top managers first look for in any player.
