Well done Danniel.

you have succeeded in your one man quest with manchester united to squeeze the cash cow dry and earn that extra few million.... although what can we do with it??? January may be too late to spend it.

we now go into the next 35 games with only one recognised and experienced striker (and many people beleive that he is out of his depth!),
Pavlyuchenko is unproven in the EPL and FRASER CAMPBELL well he is unproven at any level.

Pav is cup tied for the EUFA cup so we are left with Bent up front - how much would we lose out on by failure to qualify for the group stages? why didn't you just sell him to milan for £21 and use that money to replace him.

we are now faced with the prospect of a hard winter without our 2 top goalscorers (DB & RK) and you have failed to replace them both AND we needed a defensive midfielder!!

Now i am sure that Pav will come good but he has already played 5 months of football this year and is untested at this level they will probably be a period of adjustment.

you may have succeeded in you role of a chairman of a PLC but i feel that you have failed in your role as a chairman of our football club and it is hard for fans to get excited about Profit!!!

i dont ever recall the chant "we've made a profit, we've made a profit - you aint".

i am sure you have worked long hours for the club daniel, and many trips in vain to Russia/amsterdam/lisbon etc but what has it given us? a 20 year old Manchester united cast off who in one years time will be playing for oldham? do you think if he was that good they'd let him go?

i dont remember them offering Beckham to leeds when the signed cantona, or giggs to west ham when they bought ince.

was very angry and upset last night and as a consequence i am very tired as i couldn't sleep.

Thanks Daniel Levy, Thanks for thinking about the money more than the fans... i hope our money is very comfortable and to quote the website "we wish it all the best in the future".

Tony

I totally agree with every word of your post. Levy and commoli need to have a long hard look at themselves if they think this has been a successful transfer window or maybe in their eyes because we made a profit but when we lose the revenue from getting knocked out in the early rounds of all the cup competitions including not getting to the group stages of the uefa cup because our squad is weaker than it was last year how good will that profit look. I had said in a number of posts beforehand that this window was going to be all about balancing the books but secretly hoping i was wrong but unfortunately i am not. We have not addressed where our problems have been since carrick was allowed to go again for profit more than football sense ie a DM then we go and sell the things that got us out of a hole ie our strikers and then did not think to bother to replace them.Unfortunately we are going to struggle this season again.

I feel as let down as you mate. And they've spoilt my birthday. Hope the club don't hunt you down and slap a banning order on you for this.

Very very disappointed, why on earth are we in this situation. Roman appears to be Berbs replacement, but please tell me the Tottenham board don't think Mr Soup is Keanes replacement! Why didn't we pay the few extra quid and get Arshavin or someone else of similar stature.

its not that i feel let down by the club i'm sure they tried hard to get players in but just not hard enough to go all out for players like arshavin. hopefully the 3 strikers we have can get enough goals and ramos can get the most out of his squad. from what i've seen so far though i'm sceptical about either.

but the worse thing is that the last day of the transfer window showed what football is like now. No scruples from berbatov and ferguson and the fact that we sold out for as much cash as we could for berbatov as we are so far behind the sky 4 teams and now man city. i cant see it changing either.

I say thanks for looking after our club, we have a stronger squad of players than we finished last season with, sold a number of squad players that needed moving on, and two players that no longer wanted to play for us, and we still have money left to buy in the next window.

also why do the FA need us to make a complaint before they will sort manchester united out for tapping up?

anybody with eyes could see them tapping him up yesterday on SSN.

Alec Fullofgin collected him from the airport when he hadn't even been given permission to talk to them - he was only allowed to speak to citeh!

After a project (i.e. the transfer window) any well-run company / team will sit down and review their performance. Waht did we do well, where could we have done better, how did we perform against our objectives and what should we do differently next time.

I can't help but feel that this has never happeneed at Spurs as we seem to live in Groundhog Day, making the same mistakes over and over, each time a new window opens.

Horribly disappointed.

Do you really believe that?

I agree with everything you said apart from the bits inbetween the words "Well" and "Tony". I think this whole Berbatov saga wasn't just about getting the most money out of Man U it was about making this transfer as difficult for them as possible. I know that ultimately they got their man but we sure made them pay for it.

In future Man U and Liverpool will think twice before going for our big name players or at least the way they go about it. It cost them both a few million quid extra for the way they handled the transfer whether they can afford it or not that is still a fair ammount of money. I expect we have made it clear to them both that next time we will report them to the FA.

We know both RK and DB had there heart set on the clubs that they went to, it's not as simple as just saying "Lets just sell him to Milan" it just doesn't work like that.

Also Levy is not trying to raise money for the PLC, he is raising it for re-investment in the football club. Don't forget we don't have someone to pour millions of quid into the club which is why we need an astute business man to run the club effectively.

Lets be clear on this one, the "villians" are Man U, that arrogant tosspot Fergie and DB, not Levy.

Stu, why on earth would the Rowdies or Liverpool do things differently next time? To quote you, "they got their man".

My question is why have we caved and retracted our complaint to the Premier League. If we honestly do want to stand up to other clubs, then surely we can continue to pursue them through 'legal' channels when they are brazebnly speaking to our players without Club permission?

I could agree with you, why we didn't sign Arshavin or Keane replacement, we really need him for this squad. while Jol net spend was £30m in last summer with no CL football, then our net spend was around £11m in winter 2008 to sort our defence, then a profit around £8-11 for this suumer which mean Ramos didn't spend any transfer budget since he took over. so.. last season transfer budget was 15m and this season 15m.

But while they didn't sign Arshavin, I don't know. apart from that, I don't think Levy did anything wrong over transfers.

If he goes and declares a big dividend for shareholders then you might have a point, if the money is invested in January then you don't.

Levy has a track record of spending money and backing his managers. He was going for top top quality this summer and fell short in securing the deals. We will never know the reasons why but i doubt it was through lack of effort. More likely that he would not be held to ransom over some transfer fees. People are slagging Pav for being unproven in the EPL but then blame Levy for not giving ZSP an extra £5M plus for Arshavin who is equally unproven.

Levy deserves some credit for the deals he has got out of Manure and The Thieves, got absolutely top whack for them.

The only thing i can't understand is why oh why when we knew the pair were gonna go did we not get replacements in.

he does not deserve any credit at all for turning our club into a feeder club that shout and bawl about tapping up and that we dont want to sell our best players but then we go ahead do just that:bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

I am sorry but this is a typical Spurs like over reaction.

Whats the problem? We have 4 players who an play up front: Bent, Pav, Campbell, Gio. This is of course in addition to the fact that Juande might want to continue to play one up front which means we would have ample replacement on the bench.
Ok it might get tricky if we gt injuries but couldnt that be the same if any importnat position gets injuries. What if Gomes and Cesar get injured?

We have 3 players who can play defensive midfielder: Huddlestone, Zokora and Corluka.

We now have extra cover at centre back and right back.

What we now have is a slim line squad of players wanted by Ramos and Spurs and a more harmonious dressing room for it. Financially we are in good shape which is a good thing given the extensive lay out of cash in the past few years. I, for one, am glad we havent been spoilt by the riches of foreign investors which would undermine the culture and history of our club.

Stop whining just because we didnt sign Robinho. If we could have signed a few more targets we would have had but why should we be held to ransom by anyone.
Why can't people trust those in charge? If we start moving up the league everyone will be praising them for assembling this squad and shifting the deadwood.
Stop bitching about Levy. He got us the price we wanted for Berba.

Sorry if I sound aggrieved but I hate pessimistic Spurs fans jumping on a negative bandwagon. The facts are we are in a much better psoition this morning than we were yesterday morning.
