The three missed penalties have been fucking dreadful, that one was the worst of the lot.

The Germans have been knocked out on penalties!! Some of the misses were fucking horrendous.

Torres just took a penalty and it was fucking brilliant. I know we all laughed when he was at Chelsea, but it's honestly brilliant to see him playing with confidence and scoring some goals again. He was the best striker in the world at one stage when he played for Liverpool.

England constantly does poor in the competition. This year, Liverpool knocked out in the group stages. The rest knocked out in the round of 16(once barca see off city tomorrow). Embarrasing, really. I recognize that we love seeing the top 4 clubs fuck up in CL play, but at the same time, it reflects poorly on English football.

I guess England can take solace in Germany being a one club league and Spain being a 2 club + sometimes atletico league though ensuring England maintain 4 CL places due to competitiveness and the relative closeness between 5 or 6 clubs. Losing a place and giving it to another league would be a joke and a nightmare for UEFA as no other league really deserves it.

How fucking irritating was Carrasco for Monaco. Wasted every single chance to break with his fuckwittery. And that free kick at the end where he runs 10 yards offside and the other idiot Bernardo fucking Silva kicks the free kick to him, giving Arsenal back the ball with a minute or so left.

Germany and Spain have higher coefficient ratings than England. It will only be if Italy can get more will we lose our 4th place. This will be the first time in 5 years that they will have more points than us though. So as long as it is a blip and this doesn't happen again both the next 2 years we should be pretty safe.

No they don't
Here are the current ratings based on this seasons results so far

1. Spain 94.713
2. England 80.105
3. Germany 77.986
4. Italy 66.010

People make alot about this but we are not at risk of losing our 4th place spot even if we do poor after 2 seasons

Italy aren't doing well in the CL only one club managed to get past the group stage. They are beating us on Europa league with 5 teams in the round of 16. That said 3 of the italian teams are about to get knocked out. So that leaves Everton and 2 europa league teams and 1 in the CL. However we have a 11 point lead that will be lost over the next two season, though they have to carry on for 3 years with us not making the quarters and failing in europa to overtake us

One of the reason why england done poor is because Hull got knocked out by a shocking Belgium team.

As for Germany, they have had a good year and probably will overtake us unless Everton carry on progressing or if Man City overturn their deficit. However they will only have 1 or 2 teams in the CL, if they have 2 then italy will have none, which helps us. They also only have one team in the EL. So in a weeks time we may be saying that they aren't going to overtake us.

So Wenger believes Monaco didn't deserve to go through. Does he remember how Arsenal played in the home leg?!

Sorry you are correct but next season we will have lost the 2.7k advantage we had over them from 2010. So unless Everton do really well or we do better than them next year we will slip down to 3rd. As I said unless we do badly over the next 2 years we should be fine.

Always funny when the manager says Monaco didn't deserve to go through, but Meatstacker & Ramsey said the first leg showed why Monaco DID deserve to go through.
I only watched the finaly 5-10 mins last night, but boy did Monaco look amateur in those few mins. Some of the defending wouldn't have looked out of place in the local park on a Sunday morning.

To be honest, Monaco weren't bad over the 90, they really didn't allow Arsenal to generate sustained attacking momentum until that last 10 minutes. They actually played the first 25 minutes of the first half very well and if it wasn't for that idiot Carrasco could easily have clipped Arsenal a couple more times on the break.

It's very difficult to play out games sometimes in these circumstance, as we saw at Inter a couple of years back, but for the most part I thought Monaco's tactics were pretty good, they pretty much tried to play the second leg like the first, not over committing but not just parking a deep bus either, they tried to keep hold of the ball for little phases and break efficiently and this killed some of Arsenal's momentum.

Arsenal did have a couple of chances but if Monaco had been clever they could have too. It inevitably got a bit desperate last 10 because Arsenal threw bodies forward and started lumping long balls.
