I'm sorry but I cannot stand this player. I said so about a month ago and got slated for it and, as such, figured perhaps I was wrong/being too harsh/etc. However, today just reiterated everything I thought before.

The guy cannot defend for shit- period. Yes he made a couple of nice plays, but he also made numerous terrible ones. I literally age five years every time I watch him- he's like Benny if BAE were a tall gangly white guy from Romania- always trying to play out through ultra-dangerous positions and forever dribbling himself back into trouble. I can't for the life of me see how he'll ever make it as a CB in this league- CM maybe, but center BACK no fucking way.

Go on, tell me how I'm wrong and he's amazing- I just don't see it. I would keep Danny Rose over him- and that is saying something.

If you had posted this before last night's game I wpuld have changed the N in your username with a T.

But after watching last nights game, I totally agree with you. Seriously frustrating player and a disaster waiting to happen, if he is not already

I think Chiriches is top class and will prove himself... keep in mind he's not had a good run of games yet, and the Poch dose was just taken... the effects, will become apparent very shortly.

I agree he overplays.

I don't agree that he can't defend, he's actually very skilful at taking the from a player with an interception and is a very good tackler. Watch his MOM performance against Man Utd, that is not a man who can't defend.

I think he is technically fantastic.

I think all that is worrying you can be coached out of him whereas it would be very hard to coach his skills into a less gifted player, we need to remember the step up he is making and give him time. Romanian league to PL is brutal stuff.

It's also important to remember that he has never played in that particular back four previously.

It's also important to remember none of the goals today were directly his fault, he may need to take his share of collective responsibility but nothing above a few others.

I'm very excited about what he will become with stability, experience and coaching.

He really needs to turn it down a couple of notches. He does know how to defend, even though he's not the best in the air. His showboating does need to be tuned down though. Yesterday he just seemed incapable of playing the simple pass, and gave away possession an unacceptable number of times.

I love Chiriches. He's just the definition of Tottenham Hotspur FC. A defender who is as skilled as any midfielder on the ball. At his best he's unbelievably good and the ability he has makes his potential sky high. But he's prone to moments of madness and little bits that make you wonder what just happened.

That being said, I think he has to earn his place if he wants to start and today wasn't quite good enough.

Massively unreliable?

I'd prefer it if the definition of Tottenham Hotspur started to be considered something more reliable, with a touch of flair. The whole 'Spurs are entertaining because they're just as likely to produce something magical as they are to fuck up' thing is beginning to get a bit old, and Chiriches seems to be part of the old school style of Spurs player...sure he'll produce an unexpected and quirky bit of play that makes you smile now and again, but more often than not he's liable to cost the team points.

Plus his agent came out and said that Chiriches was hoping his move to Spurs might lead to a move to a bigger club like Chelsea eventually, within days of him signing for us. Seeing as he didn't sack his agent on the spot, I wish him all the best as long as he's on the pitch in our colours, but for everything else he can go fuck himself. Can't wait for the inconsistent clown to end up back in the Z-list of European football.

Chiriches will get much better, his basically coming back from an injury, grew as the game went on I reckon what people are nervous about is the surging runs up field. I personally think his a better tactical defender than Vertonghen I much prefer him to Vertonghen who I believe makes much more individual mistakes and gives up.

He just needs a run of games, it was his first appearance of the season in the league, of course he's going to struggle a bit, as have Verts, Kaboul & Dier.

I hope to see him partnered with Fazio sooner rather than later

There's glimpses of real quality and he is an excellent tackler.
He needs to choose the simple pass more often as he does give the ball away unnecessarily at times which can put us under pressure.
Glad we didn't sell him though. Think he's worth sticking with for a while, a bit of coaching could do wonders.

I feel sorry for anyone playing alongside Kaboul at the moment.

I'd like to see Chiriches alongside Fazio at some point - see him alongside a disciplined organiser.

why on earth was he playing in the first place? Surley we'd be better off playing him in the Europas

Inconsistent? I think he was fantastic under AVB until his injury. Was poor under Tim when coming back from a massive lay off in his first season in the most difficult league in the world. Feel you are being very harsh.

There was a moment in yesterdays game where Vlad took two touches to beat his man that where so ridiculously good I laughed out loud at my TV. Agree he still over plays at times and that needs to be coached out, but I thought some of his reading of the game was great. That 15 yard pass he played straight to Ade's feet in the box was as good as anything our CM's could do, just that Ade failed to do anything with it.
