I'm disgusted by this, charging for your kid to walk out with the players?!!! What's the point? How much would it bring in over the course of a season? Less than half of a first team player's weekly wage!! Disgraceful!!!

Shocking that we charge for this! But just so typical of modern football, I believe it's fine to charge companies to sponsor the game etc nothing against corporate hospitality, but for clubs to charge kids is poor.

It wasn't as expensive when I did it...but I had a boxing day game when I was 11 and didnt find out until Christmas morning.

I think it was more involvedthen, like we were allowed in the dressing room with the players before the game, had a kick around on the pitch with a pleyr during warm up, went to the players bar afterwards and there were only 3 mascots rather than a whole host.

But you get a kit included and some ticks for family etc. so while it is very steep at that price-it genuinely is an amazing experience which probably is worth it for an obsessed kid. For me, running out in front of Teddy at the lane with 36000 Spurs fans shouting..? Priceless.

Should be a lucky draw shouldn't it?
I remember friends of ours who's son was an academy player and junior season ticket holder at luton, he was a mascot about five years ago and he was charged for the 'priviledge'.
Disgraceful in my opinion.

I've been considering paying for it to happen for my eldest.

He'd absolutely love it!

Agree it should be a list and a simple draw at the start of the season or a month or so in advance.

What about the middle ground, people who can't afford it and dont qaulify as being poor? Parents have to pay enough if their kid is into football, game tickets, kit, merchandise, TV subscription this is the sort of thing that a club could do for free to give a little back as a token gesture.

So the only way we can legitimately invest more in the playing squad is by charging mascots? and we should be alright with that? I know your post was tongue in cheek, but one thing has got nothing to do with the other.

We already pay the second highest ticket prices in the league and there are plenty of revenue streams available to us without taking the piss with things like this (if indeed we are one of the clubs doing it).

Should we charge the fans an extra £5 every time we score a goal or pass round a collection box to bump up our transfer budget?

Maybe if we didn't waste so much money on a futile bid for a stadium we were never going to get or paying off managers, staff and countless DOF's from Levy's bungled attempts at running the football side of the club we wouldn't need to fleece the fans for a bit more cash............

and breathe.........

sorry. Rant over.

Don't understand why some people are shocked, we've been doing it for years.
