We currently have King, Woodgate, Dawson as our first choice central defenders, and it is a shame that Kaboul is not a man we want to give time.

We have to accept it, but it is hard, as Kaboul is a special player with a special talent.

If we sell both Chimbonda and Kaboul, while fellow defenders Gardner, Rocha, we need another central defender, and let's discuss who that should be.

I have one in my mind now:

Thiago Silva (Fluminese FC):

23 year old brazilian defender, who will probably be a member of the future Brazilian team.

We can afford him, and with our current coaching team, he would settle well, I think.

I'm sure the coaching staff would've loved to keep Kaboul if he hadn't slagged them off in the media TWICE and burnt all possible bridges. The guy undoubtedly has talent, but we can't keep people like that in the side. Get over it.

I want a defender who has experience in a good European league and has preferably played a fair bit in Europe and for his country. Meira would've been perfect but sadly that didn't happen, as would Dunne but that also looks unlikely.

I think it's as much of a case of Kaboul wanting to go somewhere for first team football too though. I'm sure we'd be happy to keep him in reserve for as long as he would stand it like we did with Defoe.

Although i'm nto sure Kaboul had sunderland in mind.

Would love to keep Kaboul , i think he has huge protential and could be even better than Ledley in the long run . Can not understand why J Ramos is so quick to sell, new country, team and language and we all make mistakes some time in our lives ,would sooner sell Dawson .Harry and MoN know a good player when they see one, put him out on loan or a buy back clause . Not to worried about C/B we need two C/M D/M if we were to buy Veloso he can cover C/B as can Gunter . There are a lot of spurs fans That would like Kaboul and Bent to just be given a chance

If it is possible, I would Sketel in Robbie Keane deal, even Skerel plus £10m .. He is a great CB fighter and could do well with Woodgate or King. Or even swap Bent for Lescott( Eveton ) that's would be even good if Bale need a rest ( As I don't trust Gilberto on LB in EPL ) ..

another difficult target, but would be ideal Wheater, another one from Middlesbrough would be hard to get, but it's good chance to get him if we offered Dawson or Boateng or Zokora, while Huddlestone can be 4th in pecking order after Wheater, King & Woodagte.

I would love to keep Kaboul as well but he needs to learn when to keep his mouth shut and i cant see him becoming better than Ledley. Dawson can be a good player with someone more experienced and he was amazing for us a couple of seasons ago. Gunter can cover cb and thats where Wales see his future. But i wouldnt mind another experienced cb esp. with Kings and Woodgate injuries in the past. Maybe a little bit in the Naybet role?

We really missed a trick with Richard Dunne.

Proven premier league and international class. Four years in a row player of the year at City. Should have snapped him up before Hughes has a chance to change his mind.

But now that he's gone...

I would like to see us try for a utility defender. A John O Shea or Mikael Silvestre.

Or Chris Samba from Blackburn.

Notice, I want proven premier league quality.

Probably because he slagged Ramos off and compared him adversely to Jol, then told the world he'd love to play for Pompey, and has since made further comments on both themes. No manager is going to put up with that, however promising the player may be.

I just don't believe that Juande treated Kaboul as badly as he claimed. It goes against everything that's been said—by all accounts Juande's ruthless, but fair. If Kaboul could have got his big head round the fact that Juande thought Dawson, for all his faults, would do a better job in the short term, and that he'd get a chance in the future, we wouldn't be looking for a replacement now.

kaboul needs to leave yesterday, after making those comments.
moron.

i reckon we should go for a veteran naybet-like defender, who would be happy to be rested when king is fit and play in the carling cup and poss early fa cup games. experienced.

If we're going to go for a Man City centre back, I'd quite like to see Onuoha at the club. I quite like him. Quite. But we should probably be going for someone more experience. BUT I would like to see him at the club.

Samba at Blackburn would be a good signing, and I would rather put in a good offer for him, than paying overprice for Bentley. Others are saying Spurs fans would not accept Babtista to join, but Bentley is even more Arse man, as he came through the ranks there, and now we are willing to pay 17 mill for him! I cannot belive it. We can find a better player for less, for sure.

We need experience in this position. We have Troy AH and Dervite coming through and dawson is still relatively young for a CB, so for me experience and quality for now is needed.

No idea who though?? We missed out on both distin ane dunne, both wouldve been perfect

Kaboul will be a HUGH loss to us IF he actually leaves. I do not hold much hope of seeing him at WHL next season but....whoever is at fault was this the FIRST major mistake of the Ramos era? WC player leaving WHL like passengers off the Titanic? Lucky that the Carpathia is so close and the radio operator is WIDE awake! Well, enough about a 1912 scenerio....2012 is looming and Kaboul will be there or there abouts by then (WC winner?). COYS!
