Bolton in talks for highly-rated Veloso!

Bolton Wanderers are in talks with the highly-rated Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso.

Veloso, a 22-year-old defensive midfielder who has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Manchester United, said recently that he would be happy to stay at Sporting but the Portuguese club may be persuaded by a bid in the region of £12m-£13m. Bolton's current record signing is the Swedish striker Johan Elmander, who joined for £9m from Toulouse in the summer.

About the right level from what I've seen of him. I'm certain all the Man Utd and Arsenal talk was coming from his side, because I just couldn't work out what it was they would see in him. Pretty average midfielder, with a good left foot. :shrug:

I haven't seen him play but had to endure all the transfer bs bout him in the summer. My understanding from the ITK information is that Lisbon wanted 22 million for him. While the player himself wanted to go to a champions league club but now all of a sudden his price is going down to 12 million and bolton are in talks with him.

I guess... this is a recession.

Think he would actually fit in well at Man U/Arsenal/Pool in and around high calibre midfielders, he would probably be a disaster with us right now. I must say that the only time I've watched him intensely was the u21 tournament a few years ago where he stood out alongside Fernandes. It seems his progress has stagnated but I still think he's a talent, I'd be surprised if he went to Bolton, but wouldn't be surprised if he ended up at a top 4 team in a yr or 2. Just because he signs for Bolton doesn't mean he is rubbish.
