Blackburn's and Stoke's systematic fouling of keepers

Blackburn scored a goal against Fulham yesterday where Diouf ignores the ball, his only interest is to tackle Schwarzer. This was not the first time during the game where Diouf went in to take Schwarzer out. We saw Gomes get the same treatment a number of times against Stoke.

This is a cynical and pathetic way to play football and the refs need to deal with it now. It's a new level of anti-football and I don't wish to see another goal like this all year.

The incident is at 2:05

Players need to be booked and clubs need to fined, in my opinion. They'll soon change their ways when they start picking up yellow cards AND lose money for it.

It's cheating, there is no other way to describe it. You're deliberately fouling the goalkeeper and using the crowd of players in the box to shield your actions from the officials.

The FA needs to step in immediately to make sure it's cut out as quickly as possible. Which means the FA won't step in at all until Man Utd concede a goal through those methods.

I was laughing when they were showing the Diouf incidentson MOTD; it was so blatant and he wasn't even looking or anywhere near the ball.

And Allardyce's defence of the situation. Since Schwarzer had handled the ball outside the box he shouldn't even had been on so it was somehow okay...

Robert Huth blocks defenders off when Stoke have corners too.

Too many of these teams are coming into the Premierleague and are playing anti-football. If you aren't good enough to come up and compete, don't ruin the game for everyone else. It's awful to watch and the regularity of it has increased over the past 3 or 4 years- teams like Stoke, Bolton, Wolves, Hull, Wigan etc using time wasting and other underhand tactics to kill games. Supporters and players can't be happy with their team playing this way.

Another complaint is that managers who manipulate the media to pressurise referees are the only ones who appear to get decent treatment in this regard. To take Stoke as an example, when we played them they systematically and cynically made little spoiling fouls every time we looked to break. Whitehead and Shawcross were the worst offenders but they were by no means the only ones. The deliberate fouling of goalkeepers is the icing on the cake. I think we all know that the ref would have allowed that goal if he thought it went in, when Huth had blatantly deliberately fouled Gomes immediately beforehand. How could the referee not have seen it? West Ham were treated even more shoddily by the ref. Yet Arsenal had three players sent off against them in their first four matches, including the one against Stoke.

I'm not asking for teams to be singled out, but I am asking for cynical, deliberate and persistent fouling to be consistently punished.

Its an absolute disgrace and eventually the rules will be changed and players will not be allowed inside the 6 yard box for corners.
They should not be allowed to impede the keeper from getting to the ball.

I don't hold out much hope for things to be sorted until Manure or perhaps chelsea are affected by it in some meaningful way.

Bobby Smith would be having a good laugh up there in heaven at Stoke and Blackburn's "assault" of keepers, back in his day he used to clothesline them into the net.
