Berbatov = Henry

I have been thinking about this whole berba situation and i cant help thinking of terry henry aswell. Last season his attitude seemed to rub come of his team mates up the wrong and everyone thought Ar5ena1 could not cope without him but they have a season a lot better than predicted. Berba does not seemed interested, does anyone think we could perform better if we lost him, i think we rely on him to much just as the scum did with henry and they have done alright without him.

Henry was injured for the most part of his last season at Woolwich, possibly another reason why Whinger let him go, so they were pretty used to him not playing anyway. They also had the good fortune of Adebayor really stepping up this season. Who knows maybe Bent could do that for us if Berba does leave............................

YOur correct in saying we rely to much on Berbatov, but for differnt reasons then the scum relied on Henry.

We rely on Berbatov because he is head and shoulders above the rest of the team, the only player with top drawer quality who can unlock any defence.

So it is because the midfield lacks the quality and creativity required that we rely so heavily on Berbatov, where as Henry was too demanding of everything going through him even when there were plenty of excellent players around him who were supressed as a result (to a certain extent anyway.)

So while I dont think Berbatov has a negative effect on the players around him in the why Henry did to the young gooners, if anything he makes average players look much better at times, it does look highley likely that we will lose him in the summer.

Now we can however become a better team without him, not in the same way Arsenal have without Henry, but because we can use the money to upgrade the squad in general (more like the way Everton improved without Rooney then Arsenal did without Henry).

So we will be forced to have more creative and quality players in midfield that will hopefully make the team better, but I certainly think it is better to compare any pending departure of Berbatov to that of Rooney leaving Everton then it is to compare it to Henry's move to Barca.

(Note Rooney is still a much better indivdual player then anyone in the Everton squad yet Everton are a much better team then they were with him, this is the best we can hope to achieve on selling Berbatov IMO)

Arsenal were successful for many years with Henry...........I feel sick for saying that.

Also we should have finished 4th with Mido and Keano up front

If we can get some real quality in midfield both creatively and to ease the pressure on the defence we woud become a much more cohesive team.

Bent and Keane both have plenty of goals in them if they are given the service, the problem is at the moment we have very few players other then berbatov who can really produce quality service only possibly the Hudd who is still inconsistant.

Also if Berbs is sold no doubt atleast one of striker would be brought it (no way would we start the season with just two first team strikers)

If we had a midfield with 3 players all capable of consistantly creating chances we would not feel the loss of Berbatov that strongly (except obviously that it would have been prefrable to have he improved midfield with Berbatov)

Well pre Berba we had Lennon having a great first season, terrorising full backs for fun, Carrick was the creative element in the centre and we had the priceless experience of Davids. I am sure Juande will be able to mould a really creative side with or without Berba, you just have to look at his success at Sevilla. I hope that Thudd does get more consistent as well as it is obvious he has the ability to pass the ball through the eye of a needle

Anyone who says Berbatov isn't interested, or doesn't care is wrong. You're just trying to prepare yourself for the worst.

Henry is only good when you have about 4 other players who could interchange passes and position amongst them. with our very pedestrian midfield, he won't get a sniff of the ball.

And for the sake of consistency, you'd have to say he hasn't been interested and hasn't cared since he signed for Tottenham, or even since he started playing football altogether.

Oh, he's a professional and will do his best. He cares. No-one who watched him go mental after the CC Final would contest that.

I just wish he'd said something along the lines of: 'This was a fantastic moment and shows we're a team that's going places. Next season we're going to mount a major challenge for a top four spot and I'm going to be spearheading it.'

Only in our collective dreams SS57 would we hear him utter those words. It would be sad to see him go but for the price he would command you would think it possible for JR to buy the players necessary to make us a realistic threat for the top 4 next season. Theres also the fees we will get from the other players deemed surplus to requirements and we have quite a few of those.

If we do sell berba along with the deadwood, as well as having the normal allocated kitty, juande should have about 50mill+ to spend in the summer i would say. Thats a shitload and would hopefully buy 5 or 6 quality starters that could take us to the next level. GK 8mill, DM 10mill, AM 13mill, ST 15mill, LW 10mill

it's true AFC have done ok without Henry - but what have they won - nothing

what did they win with Henry - plenty

But Adebayor has burst forward this season - maybe Bent could do the same

we'll find out of course if/when Berbs goes

Spurs will go on but certain players leaving in the past has set the club back massively

Klinsmann comes to mind as one Ardilles in 82 as another

for my money Roberts in 86 was another - though that's perhaps more controversial - but I stll think we'd have won something that season had we kept Robbo - and then what a season that would have been - one of our greatest ever

Henry is also suffering from a chronic back problem. Wenger, like SAF, seldom if ever gets rid of big-name players until they can no longer cut the mustard. Barca were apparently crazy enough to sign him without giving him a full medical, in which case they only have themselves to blame.

Gone, baby, gone.

No we won't survive the loss of berba the way Arse did without Henry. Simple reasons:

1) Arse have key players to step up, and the performance in the season before Henry left was prove. These players included Fab, Adebayor, Helb etc

2) They didn't do terribly without Henry in that season.

3) The ability gap between Henry and the rest of the squad is not as big as Berba with ours.

4) Henry's role in the squad is much smaller than Berba.
