Imo I think benteke could be a masterstroke if we could get him firing again. He has got all the attributes to be a top front man. Pace, power & great in the air. We should be going all out for him

Villa wanted silly money in the summer; they'll want absolutely insane money in January. Also, they're sinking like a stone at the moment.

I think Batshuayi is the one we should be going for. It's nice fantasizing about the likes of Balloteli and Destro, but this kid is a real possibility. Not quite as strong as Benteke, but strong enough, quicker, and technically better, we should be getting on this!

If we can't sign him, get in Chop Suey.

Chances are he's got a relegation release clause and could walk for fuck all if they go down. :ROFLMAO:

I tend to agree.

People jump the gun too much on whether player X is the dog's danglies to being complete horse shit then next.

Look at the performances Benteke put in last season and the goals and all round contribution he provided - that's talent and that doesn't just disappear.

I think whilst his standard has dropped through injury and form, he cuts a figure that isn't happy with the direction Villa are heading and probably the negative tactics employed by Lambert.

If he's available for reasonable money circa £15-£20 million then I'm all for it.

We could offer them one or two of our midfielders (Chadli, Sig, Carroll, Bentaleb, Holtby) on a loan to reduce prize. But don't think we want this move...

Still think there are better deals to be had out there especially if we want a striker like him. Also, I tend to think we need a different striker than Benteke.

I would prefer to give Harry Kane a chance rather than spunk £25m on Benteke.

I think the role of Kane can play likes of Chadli and Lamela as well, but not the main target man upfront with Adebayor. If we need a striker than an alternative to him who opens spaces for the likes of Soldado and lamela and someone who is strong and good in the air. He should keep possession as well. But atm I think our squad will do (except defense)

he is someone u can rely on to keep the fking ball

Exactly. While Soldado excels at holding onto the ball in the final third (if he doesn't shoot), he's never going to be the guy to pluck the ball out of the air. Benteke won every single long ball or clearance against Arsenal, and he was being marked by Mertesacker. He'd be perfect for winning the ball and distributing it to our pacy midfield.

I think he'd jump at the chance to play for us given the opportunity again, and his price should be significantly less since he's not had the season he had last year, despite his new contract.

I'd be surprised if he didn't get a minimum fee release clause put in too, although if I were Villa I'd have had it only activate from the summer.

Well except that he's been pretty much dogshit all season so i would think his stock has dropped considerably due to that

Admittedly he's fallen off a bit of late as his confidence has slipped, but up through November the man never conceded the ball up top, and always managed to keep it at our feet. He still does a decent enough job of it to merit his playing time despite his unforgivable presence in front of goal.
