Not keen on Thauvin, but if Marseille offer us around the amount that we paid for him, it'd be a good move for all parties, especially if we upgrade with Schneiderlin.

Why isn't he eligible?
Any long term loans (loans over 93 days) finish at the end of the playing season (after date of the final game including play offs, which in this case is the 24/05). That means isn't eligible to play for us until 25/05, which is the day after our final game.

How come Pritchard played for us on the last day of last season after spending the season on loan at Swindon?

Termination of youth loan which was automatic as of his 21st birthday, May 3rd of last year. He didn't even get to finish the regular season with Swindon before having to return to us.

Thought this was interesting:

Alan @hotspur423
If we do miss out Schneiderlin, you'd have to assume Mitchell spent a lot of time @ saints planning for Morgan's replacement anyway.
Michael Bridge @MichaelBridge_
@hotspur423 Had to reply to this. One of their main targets to replace Schneiderlin last season was....Stambouli!

So presumably Mitchell is a fan? Also may mean Saints would be keen on a move if MS goes.

ETA: And means, of course, that he was a Poch choice, and not a Levy bargain.

I like the look of Stambouli, and I can see why Southampton would have liked him, but, just like Fazio, I don't think he's up to speed for the Prem.

Our best play this season was when we had Mason, Bentaleb, and Dembele all playing. Dembele was further forward, which helped us keep the ball better too, not sure why he was dropped again so suddenly. I'd rather keep him than Stambouli who just doesn't seem to fit at all unfortunately.

Too early to write off stambo. I would suspect poch has just been realising he isn't ready and has been giving him specific training. The fact he featured in our last game of the season, almost like a youth signing, suggests he has a future.

I think Dembele still has lingering health issues. Enough for him to play, but it's a struggle to get more than 60 from him.

I'll most likely get shot down for this, but it's not just a struggle to get 60 minutes from Dembele, it's a struggle to get anything productive out of him. Seriously, I really struggle to see what he brings to the party? Yes he's an absolute beast when he has the ball, people seem to find it impossible to tackle or dispossess him, but he doesn't seem to do anything outside of that. Barely any assists, barely any goals, barely any 'telling' passes, and mostly seems to hold onto the ball for far too long, and either runs into a wall of opposition players, or turns & passes it backwards.

Sorry to those who like / rate Dembele, I just personally don't see what he offers us, and I have a feeling that our head-coach feels the same, which is why the guy sees less and less game time.

I think Dembele has absolutely incredible ability. He should have buckets of goals and assists but seems to lack the motivation to turn that into something productive

Couldn't agree more. Although it's not fair on Dembele, he's akin to Adebayor when it comes to having all the tools but, for whatever reason, he's not reaching the levels that his talent suggests he really should be at. What a shame!!

I don't think it's motivation, I just don't think he actually knows what to do. He has the opposite of a football brain. That's why he always seems to shut down when he gets into the final 3rd, because he doesn't have a clue what to do next.

Can see him either going to Southampton or on loan to someone like Swansea.

Will be interesting to see how he does with a real run of games

Seem to be lots of rumours of Stambouli to Marseille - as an example http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.co...uli-the-subject-of-marseille-tottenham-talks/

The Mail also report Marseille President Vincent Labrune held a 5-hour meeting with Daniel Levy,

Poch also saying to Ham & High's Ben Pearce that even some of last summer's signings could be up for sale, with Pearce then latching on to Stambouli's rare recent appearances and sparing use during the season.

Spurs of course highjacked Stambouli's move to Marseille last summer.

Not exactly a highjack, Stambouli turned them down flat then on the basis that they'd treated his dad (who was sacked by Marseille) badly.

That was one angle reported, the other that he didn't want to play CB and he thought Bielsa would play him there.
